How to curse, swear and insult people in old Norse. Insults were a serious offense during the Viking Age, but archeological finds of rune staves tell us that insults and rude language was still a natural part of daily life.

I like bushcraft vids, a lot, learned basics from my dad who was a violent b'tard btw, though my earliest memory was him shielding me from a farmer with a cocked and pointed shotgun (no idea if loaded) when I was 2, my head came to his knee, so not all bad. I subbed to you after watching many vids because you are based, though I don't watch as often I ought to anymore because it's simply depressing you're right. I fight the corporate commie globalists best I can, who wouldn't, but there is a limit to how many channels you can hear the same thing from. Took me a few years to learn my surname is Saxon, not French as my dad insisted it was. So close enough to Norse :P You've taught me a lot, though I don't comment because the shame of being poor is too much, I can't contribute. Sorry man. I used to be well off, till our UK woke courts gave everything I owned to my ex-wife. Mortgage free house, cash in the bank, car, all hers now, despite my oldest son moved in with me as soon as the woke courts had no sway over him, my youngest son planning to do the same in 18 months time when same applies because their mother is abusive, something woke a holes will never admit. Her new lover's kids, np with him, he isn't the guy 18 yrs younger than me she left me for after 20 yrs marriage, has two girls who already did the same too, ran, as soon as they could, in their case to their estranged mother just to escape. I'm disabled, living on less than £6k pa now, something that will pay for food or power, not both. Come winter if I can still make comments it'll be because people who can still work pay my share via involuntary support, can't say no, I wanna live, just feel it. So, way too long a story short, turns out I at least owe you a thank you. So thank you. Keep up the good work

You remind me so much of my Norwegian family cousins and uncles, etc. Here's a fun Swede/Norwegian rivalry joke we always enjoy (and Swedes do too). A group of Swedes and Norwegians were having an argument. It got intense and the Swedes had enough and threw some grenades into the crowd of Norwegians. The Norwegians picked them up, pulled the pins, and threw them back.

Finnish belief is that a house is safe from all evil Trolls and Goblins if there's a iron object above the door. Trolls are afraid of iron. Perhaps show a picture of a shower at the start of every video. Showers are usually made of iron. Trolls can't stand iron.

It seems you were a little bit uncomfortable doing this video. That shows you were raised properly. I had to do a double take when I seen this video come across my notifications. I am very interested with Viking history and the ways of life they had. Thank you very much for the content you provide us with. The decent human being is almost a thing of the past. We have allowed our society to be drawn into some sort of a twisted work of fiction that shames the upstanding citizens and promotes evil and rudeness.

How are certain words seen as evil, shouldn’t people be able to say ‘curse’ words, even as a term of endearment or hatred. I think it’s a Christian thing, that we can’t swear because it’s aggressive and foul, a sin.

@@kyntyr5474 it’s actually written in the word of God. Profanity in Lou of proper speech is looked upon as demeaning to the one who spoke it, and is considered an insult to those within earshot of said profanity. I find history interesting as long as it is accurate. Christian or not, truth is truth. The Vikings were great warriors, to be admired along with the other great warriors of the past and present. Final point, and yes, our society has diminished to the point that good is evil and evil is good. That is why our nations and our world are in such turmoil. Look at the solution needed, remove the corrupt that occupy our governments, prosecute them and once we find them guilty, punish them, make them examples so that the people will not forget the consequences of man’s evil acts.
@kyntyr5474
@kyntyr5474 Жыл бұрын
@@greatamculture I agree with your final point, I personally don’t care about the word of ‘god’ tho, I think that’s just a bunch of garbage made to silence people and easily teach ‘good manners’ to young kids who instead of learning a few words to express themselves should be learning many, which isn’t that bad, but if your an adult who cares say what you want to say and express yourself with fervour and passion(that’s what I say anyway).
@greatamculture
@greatamculture Жыл бұрын
@@kyntyr5474 You are free to believe what you will. Your rights and freedoms didn’t come from man, they were established by God. Here in America, our Founding Documents which is the law here, came from God’s laws. Throughout our nation God’s laws can be found written on and in the buildings that house our government. The reason why our nation is in upheaval is directly due to the fact that the people have become more Godless. They have allowed criminals to run rampant within our government, simply because they have chosen to compromise the laws established instead of enforcing said laws. Believe what you will but your freedoms are not given to you by man. If man is left to govern himself there will be no freedom, there will be no peace, just chaos. As George Bush Sr. said “out of chaos a new world order will be created”. A one world government that will place its thumb on us like we are pesky insects. Charles Schwab just recently said, “by 2030 all humans will be chipped”. Evil is indeed growing because man refuses to uphold laws divinely established.

Conan was Celtic or rather Cimmerian related possibly early steppe migration inspired.

It was just a fictional character from a comic book, preceded by an actual book written by an author, before it was ever a movie. Arnold was just the face put on the character, who actually looked and spoke nothing like him. Arnold is Austrian btw, same as hitler, and has exclaimed in public "screw your freedoms" concerning masks/vaccines. Coincidence? I think not. This is why history must be learned from, otherwise it just repeats itself. Tyrants and dictators must not be allowed to seize that much power again.

@@zaciroth given Conan was a "man of the North", and the Conan universe seems to depict the Mesopotamian cultures, its also possible that the Cimmerians being mountain folk are a fantasy version of the Caucasus people. If I recall correctly there was a literal Cimmerian culture in that area

I wonder, if Vikings regarded runes as having a certain power, or magical thinking surrounding their use, could they have buried the inscribed insults as a form of curse-making? That's done in some other ancient cultures, like Celts and Gaels, burying either something from a person, or an inscription or even writing a curse on something and burying it where the person normally went. That way, as the thing decayed, so the curse was complete. I do overthink stuff, it's true. It just seemed like a lot of work carving this to just troll someone? 🤔
