My first knife was a hot mess. If that was your first knife, I think you did a remarkable job. As long as the next knife is better than the previous one, you are well on your way to becoming a pretty decent knifemaker.

конечно руки у мастера на месте,но вот дизайн хромает и что больше всего меня убивает в таких видио-нахрена все эти заморочки с электролизом и кислотой если потом все равно идет шлифовка наждачной бумагой?)слишком много бесполезной работы на видио ИМХО

"Познавательно"(( было посмотреть как криво сверлить, тупыми свёрлами, как их ломать. Как извращаться с надфилем, как сделать гайку, как шиворот-навыворот поставить гарду-больстер и черенок лопаты вместо рукояти на этот тесак и т.п. Это же эксклюзив, никто другой так не умеет и не додумается!!))) А вот об электролизе мог бы подписать реагент и режим В/А, ведь многие думают что это сложно...

I think for being your 2nd knife restoration that you did a fantastic job. The handle came out so amazing. The whole knife put together looks pretty nice. Learn from your mistakes and move forward.

Overall I think you did a great job to be one of your early restorations. The reversed guard may not be historically correct and doesn't look right to us, but isn't even a big deal if you like it that way. Keep on working and making videos.

Man I wasn't sure about the nut on the end of the handle but I'm amazed how well it looks after a couple minutes of grinding it down and polishing it up.

Гарда потолще просится, между гардой и ручкой проставка была бы хороша..лезвие ок! А вот рукоятка неудобная будет, толстая в обхвате и неанатомическая...я б доточил....а так молодец! Возился долго, клинок вывел нормально.

Oh boy... you made so many mistakes during this project... But i reallt LOVED it. The only person who does no mistakes is the person who does nothing. And you do things you want with tools and materials you have accessible - this is the best thing a man can do ☺Making mistakes is a normal process of learning. Everyone is failing things, then they (hopefully) learn, to do things differently and come out smarter with a lot of experience. This is the way great things are done! Do, fail, learn, do better :) If you keep up, you will be making really amazing things in a few years, i promise you that:) Just a few advices from an older technician: - sharp, well maintained tools do work much more efficient (almost all of our drill bits were dull). Only the last one produced a nice strand of chips during the drilling. Learn to sharpen your drills and you will be more happy. - exchange your saw blade if you can't cut through a normal bolt. They are not that expensive and it will save you A LOT of effort. - It's hard to use a metal file on a wood;) Invest in a couple of wood files and you will feel much better working with wood. Otherwise, a great job and a really nice final effect. Keep up a good work and get pleasure from fixing things :)

The two things I would have done differently is one, reverse the direction of the hilt. And two, I would have sanded the handle down farther and round out the nut to match the handle contour. Atherwise nice job.

I know this is an old video, but I've sen you do similar on more recent ones. You take great pains to add threads for screw-on pommels to a lot of the blades you restore (and get actually impresively good results, as this video), even those which have holes for rivets to attach scales to a full tang. That is... a bit redundant. :-) End pommels (be them penned or screwed on) are used where the handle is not riveted directly to the tang, but held in place by the guard and the pommel (like _this_one). If you have holes for rivets, you don't need a screw-on pommel, and if you have a screw-on pommel, you don't need rivets.

Наткнулся на этот старенький видос, вот как все начиналось,сейчас и не узнать и станочки появились да и качаство стало намного выше,сразу видно профессионализм вырос в разы,меч-леденец шедевральный,надо для него сделать ножны из кожи ,да и в целом можно немного переделать недочёты ,понимаю тогда когда ты его делал и инструмент был такой себе,сейчас можно это исправить,как раз хорошая мысль для нового видео,закалить, убрать косяки, металл толстый позволяет,рукоять можно потоньше сделать,капнуть сварочкой и обточить этот ужасный болт,как по мне он всю картину портит,единственная деталь над которой ты потел часа 3 оказалась неэстетичной но практичной ,это сугубо моё мнение,подписан на тебя уже давно с большим удовольствием смотрю твои видосы и знаю ты можешь сделать лучше,можешь сделать великолепно ! Лайк 👍😃

I actually was glad to see all the boo boos.I've done them all and then some.I now use some diamond impregnated metal discs for my dremel. not as thin but they don't break. You can wear them out over time,but they just don't break.When you need to make a slot, you can start it with the diamond discs, or drill more holes closer together.I'm sure you'll learn all the tricks as mistakes are often the best teacher.What you're calling a bolster I would call a guard, and I think I"d have gone with brass since the blade is so polished.I am of the opinion that this knife was salvaged from a longer sword.Normally the fuller won't extend that far into the tang. and it seems to be a factory fuller, not something done by hand in a small workshop.

For future reference (and I learned this the hard way), files only cut in one direction, when you push it forward away from you, you should lift up to pull it back or you dull the teeth. You can re-sharpen them, but it's a pain in the ass. You'll cut faster and deeper if you only cut on the push not the pull. Otherwise pretty damn good job man, thanks for sharing!

Да, мастер, с такою гардою тебе трудно придется ... да и мастер с тебя так ..., по изготовлению ножей ! За рукоять ничего не скажу, у каждого свои предпочтения, но как по мне, большая она. С болтом, типа тыльник ), мог бы тоже что-то придумать поинтереснее. И контрольный вопрос, для чего полировать лезвие до блеска, если им планируешь рубить деревяшки ) ? Просто делай матовым его и не парься, очень хорошо смотрится !!! Ну а так, на вкус и цвет, конечно же, товарищей ... !

Куча беспантового труда для уничтожения классного раритетного клинка.
