Hi Everyone,
Had to reupload!
In this video I bring back to life a Jewel skater's lantern believed to be from the early 1900's! Skater's lanterns were fueled with kerosene and became popular in the last quarter of the 19th century. These lanterns were used to ice skate at night. The light could be left on the shore to insure the skaters items would not get lost in the dark.
Rather than go the traditional route and paint the lantern, I chose to electroplate it with nickel. This was a very fun process. As always this is not intended to be a how to electroplate video I just wanted to document my steps. Please use chemicals at your own risk and always use the proper protective equipment.
Much Love,
Dr Restoration
