The only thing I would have changed, is that I would have replaced 1 of the wheels to a wire wheel. Other then that, it looks great!

Awesome restoration. Very happy to see the welding of damage instead of bondo. I'm pretty sure Wilton did not have a stocking order for Bondo back then.... Good to see a total lack of short cuts!!

@@DrRestoration huh... i did this experiment but with copper acetate solution and gasses formed at the cathode (negative) but not at the anode... what could it be? (The electrolyte was made with the classic 1:1 vinegar - H-peroxide combination then the copper and finally a bit of table salt for conductivity)

Do not ever again take pre ww2, ww2 or post ww2 helmets that have original paint and/or other original like liner and destroy it. There might be many helmets but its history and none should be destroyed. You should ve ashamed and learn, dont just do this again, please.

Сделано как то неряшливо. Спуск не доведён и поверхность самого топорища не доведена до конца. Из достоинств только рукоять. А тыкву я и куском рельса разрубить могу.

I have a bone handle one of these, was given it in 1974 by a friend of my farther,my blade is finished in chrome still working well but the blade matiral is not that amazing but you can get a razor edge on it but it never lasts long , great work thank you

Beautiful work of art - as you changed the scales it's a restomod now. Sadly you didn't make a true double stitch on that sheath, would have made it look more even and nicer, and no grooving of the stitching line, which would make the thread sink beyond the leather surface and protect it against abrasion - overall, the sheath doesn't match the knife in make and finish. These knives were made to finish off wounded deer or other larger animals, the folding design to save space and make it less unwieldy - stabbing into the heart requires not much force, so the weak pivot gives no issues, but the massive blade was never ment for hard work like slashing or chopping, be careful.

I actually wasn't gona coment on your post. But nice work and more importantly. Tnks for the grit chart. I have never seen anyone else do this. But to be fair. Most people that watch a resteration are already knowlegeable about all that and more.

Great job as always. FYI my grandfather showed me how to see how sharp your knife is. You slant your thumb at an angle and put the knife blade on the nail. If the knife slips, it's dull, but if your knife sticks it's sharp. I'm an old man now but I never forgot.
