Stoves : (either from the Proto-Slavic word * kamy "stone", originally "stone fireplace" or from the Italian camino "fireplace") are thermal appliances that are used for heating or cooking. They are made of cast iron, stone or other non-combustible materials. The heat in the stove is created by burning the fuel, ie the chemical process of its oxidation, which releases chemical energy bound in the fuel. Smoke (flue gases) and other combustion products are discharged into the chimney and from there out into the air, non-combustible fuel residues (ash) fall into the ashtray at the bottom. The ashtray door is usually equipped with an adjustable screen to regulate the draft. The fuel most often used is wood or coal, or coke. The upper part of the stove adapted for cooking is called the hob. The stove is most often part of specialized stoves primarily intended for the preparation of meals and dishes, such stoves are then called stoves (stove stoves). (wikipedia source)

He do not own a sandblasting cabinet himself, so he has to go to a company to get it done, and maybe they do not want him to record it, or they didn't blast the stove the same day he delivered it to them.

Awesome restoration! Most people would have passed over that in a junk pile and never saw the possibilities that lie hidden beneath all that rust! Here’s a little nugget of knowledge I learned! Someone told me that they put dryer lint inside an empty toilet roll and pour wax that they got from their scented candles that no longer have any scent into it. Then they cut it into discs and use them to set the small pieces of kindling on fire. I thought that was ingenious!

this is actually a lower end one. As the price went up, so did the features. Some had mica-glass windows in the doors so you could watch the fire. Others had other fancy details. Depends on brand and model, but they used to be common.

@tootall5559 3 жыл бұрын
@leah rose yes the mica comes off in thin layers. All the heating and cooling cycles do that over time. It was what was available at the time though, they didn't have a glass that would stand up to it then.

Many times salesmen needed a working sample of the product they were trying to sell, including potbelly stoves. The company found that many folks liked the small size as well and manufactured in that size as well, especially for apartments. This could have been a salesmen sample or a sold potbelly. My thinking is salesmen sample since it's not cast iron...

i've noticed 3 main types of rust 1 to me this is the most annoying type of rust a bright orange rust just on the surface of the metal you can almost wipe most of it off with your hand but will need a wire brush to get it all off it doesn't cause any structural damage just ruins the appearance 2 this kind of rust is almost a protective layer it it is still very hard and doesn't really cause any structural damage it can be polisher smooth by regular use 3 this is the worst kind of rust this causes major structural. damage and can flake off in sheets and rust right through thinner metal if this rust is on thinner metal the metal is usually beyond repair like and leave a reply if you have noticed any other types of rust.

Once again, folks- you have not only warmed a place around you but also my heart. Part of the reason I watch your videos is the satisfaction I obtain mentally when I see a device restored to use, and how, one day, in the Resurrection we will all be restored to "newness of Life", to cherish the days to come in the service of our Heavenly Father, and with our families. I like to think of restoration like this is a way one might find a closeness to his Maker. Thank you for all you share with us, and may God continue to bless you with many days and many new adventures in returning things we create to use once more, in imitation of His desire to return "the works of His hands"- us- to Life once more.
