Old Switcher Locomotives and Herzog Maintenance of Way Lincoln Neb Yard
October 2023. I was in Lincoln and had some time to kill, so I went over to the BNSF Hobson Yard. I didn’t have to wait long for an empty coal train with an EMD SD70MAC.
I wish I had time to chase this one, but I had an appointment. Norfolk Southern foreign power and it’s OMAX - Omaha Public Power coal train. Just south of here, it will switch to the OPPD-owned Arbor Line and head to the power plant at Nebraska City.
Fast forward to December 30th - New Year’s weekend. Beautiful day, but the yard was slow. After a few hours, I caught this mixed freight. Check out BNSF 1563 and 1564. Two Rebuilt EMD SD38P switchers heading down the St Joe sub. I caught some cool cars as well.
On our way home, I caught this BNSF local. Check out the brand-new CPKC auto rack. At train's end, it’s Herzog maintenance of way equipment.
