Missing the right location, it should be mention or put on the caption, otherwise like many or like me which is not familiar to all cities around the world, will lose the appetite to finish watching the video. I hope this message can reach to author, or maybe I am also wrong for not understanding what the author said.

It's not all about power, it's about souls going to heaven to be with our creator. I'm a convert from the Episcopal church (Anglicanism) to Roman Catholicism. The reason my family left for Rome was because the Episcopal church was actually about power and not souls. They were so very concerned not to offend people and to give "power" to marginalized communities, women's ordination, homosexuality, abortion and sexual identity.

First of all, I want to thank you for the visit to my channel and your thoughtful comment. I think you're using the term "power" in a different way than I do in the video. In the 15th century, the Roman Catholic church was more politically powerful than any one country, and no matter what military might a crown may be able to bring to a conflict, it would be a very bad day for them indeed if they crossed the Pope. The key to that was keeping "the people" in line. How do you do that? By projecting power through architecture. It's why the church in any medieval village occupies the highest place in town. It's why gold was used extensively in their decorations (to project wealth). I think it would be hard to argue that the Inquisition was about saving souls, but rather about making anyone not on board with the Church afraid to speak their mind about it. My comments about the Church are rooted strictly in historical, not religious, context. They are two very different things :)

@JfCLA fair enough but we aren't in the 16th century. There were abuses and they were rectified. I want to say that somewhere around 95% of Luther's complaints have reformed, some were just plain heretical.

@@ryansumpter6993 Also fair enough, but my comments weren't about the present day church, they were about the mindset of the 15th-16th century Catholic church, who'd built that tower at that time.

We may not be in the 16th century, but we can analyze the 16th century. Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it. :)@@ryansumpter6993
