The word 'Kandar' in 'Nasi Kandar' refers to the act of carrying something onto the shoulders. In the olden days, the Indian Muslims (known as Mamak) sell food by carrying them all over the place using the carrier made of a long stick and baskets seen here @8:42 . 😃

Hameediyah is my favourite nasi kandar restaurant of all time. I love its biryani rice. So delicious. Since it is very far from where I live, I go there every 2 months. My late grandfather introduced me to this awsome place. You are so lucky to have the experience eating there. Yummy!!!

Do a video every time you eat nasi kandar and try different dishes they have and then decide which combo you like the best…compile all videos in one vlog…i would love to know how many times you guys have nasi kandar while in Malaysia, and see the expression on your faces every time you have nasi kandar of different dishes…By the end of it you guys surely will have “Nasi Kandar Coma”….hahaha…It would be fun to watch!..😄😄

Greetings…that was a wise choice of dish. Our typical type of choice when we patronizing any nasi kandar eatery. To tell you guys the truth, during my childhood years I’d just prefer to eat the rice empty only with mixed gravy(curry). Til now, I’m already at 55 still prefer to maintain that way. You guys are really awesome for sharing the heavenly food to all of us. This makes me wanted to go back to my hometown, it’s Penang. Stay safe & healthy always.

OMG, yes, I went there in February with a KL friend who recommended it. Wow, the chicken was excellent! I did not hesitate to go back on my own again. Really, really good.

Dan Vs Food ate there about 3 weeks ago, he had the large prawn along with everything else. Food all looks good 👍 What the heck, I saw Dan himself at 2:25 minute mark exiting the place heading to the dining room upstairs. What are the odds you both being there the same day, same time. Hmmm??

Now that you guys have tasted hameediyah's nasi kandar, do try other nasi kandar as well. Each nasi kandar places has its own forte, unique taste and speciality dishes. The more you try out, the better. Also do try eating nasi kandar with your hand/fingers so you can taste that curry spice goodness on your fingers.

No, that's not true. Nasi kandar was already in existence when hameediyah first started. Nasi kandar origin in Penang is known to have started in the 1800s. Hameediyah is the oldest because it lasted to this day and other nasi kandar before hameediyah didn't last as long. Plus, hameediyah never claimed to be the founder of nasi kandar, only the oldest.
