These scenes are from Russian/Soviet movies and series about the Russian Civil War. "Yesaul" is a name for a person, but it is also a title for the second in command leader of the Cossacks. In first command is the Ataman/Hetman.

The translation doesn't do the song justice It's not "отважных глаз коня" it's "от влажных глаз коня" so the glow of fire was reflecting not in the brave eyes but in the wet eyes of the horse. Basically Yesaul sees his horse crying as he leaves his native shore. It's a tragic song about a defeat in russian civil war through the story of Yesaul and his loyal steed

Major General William Sidney Graves (1865-1940) commanded the U.S. Army Expeditionary Force in Siberia in 1918-1920. After retiring, he wrote an honest book "America's Siberian Adventure (1918-1920)". Admiral Kolchak surrounded himself with former tsarist officials, and since the peasants did not want to take up arms and sacrifice their lives for the sake of returning these people to power, they were beaten, whipped and killed in cold blood by thousands, after which the world called them "Bolsheviks". In Siberia, the word "Bolshevik" means a person who neither by word nor deed supports the return to power in Russia of representatives of the autocracy. * * * The soldiers of Semenov and Kalmykov, under the protection of Japanese troops, roamed the country like wild animals, killing and robbing people; if Japan wanted, these murders could have stopped in a day. Honestly the audience reaction is more sobering than any speech from a close friend could ever be...I really wasn't looking for that I wanted to wallow in this hole for the evening and get it out of my system, but it looks like the cards weren't right.
