Another updated Olight model in for review, the Warrior X Pro. This time Olight have increased power output a bit at the top end, a larger capacity 21700 cell, and a few other tweaks. There are some downsides too as I explain in this in depth review. Hopefully this helps you make a choice about if the light is right for you!

I know if you want me to be blunt, most light channels (not all and it applies to many other products) are just adverts and I dislike that. It doesn't help the channel at all that is for sure (I get way less stuff sent and some won't send items in). I have to be upfront with people, so you know what to expect. That way you can make a choice yourself. I don't like custom batteries at all, it's not in the users interest. Being able to use normal cells on some lights is just about acceptable (minus the charging in the light). The new batch of Olight's don't even let you do that It is a good light despite that nice bean solid build, but IMO Olight are heading in the wrong direction on these custom batteries. I told them that directly months ago, and never heard anything since! It might not matter to some, having the info to make a choice matters to me

@@MrBazReviews you're absolutely right. I can't blame Olight for having a strong advertising campaign. But just like you and many others I would like more transparency from the people talking about these products. Some KZfaqrs just blatantly refuse to point out negatives when doing a product presentation. And it makes it painfully obvious their opinion is biased. Thanks for pointing the negatives in an objective way despite the fact it's costing you. Some of Olight's flashlights have impressive specs but I just can't get on board with the proprietary batteries and charger. I also think the tailcap switch in their lights is not as good. And this seems to be a byproduct of their tailcap magnetic charging.

@@cayero I'm just assuming they ignore me, or decide not to send stuff. You don't get an email saying you're not going to get more samples, I just hear nothing at all from them for months. This was sent in via Ruyu who sell their stuff (a dealer). I've not had an Olight offer for ages, many months. Other makers hard to say sometimes they pop up like Jetbeam, Nitecore now and then. Don't get lights in on a regular basic that often I do think it impacts what I get to review, there is one light channel that bangs them out quickly, low grade beamshots, hissing audio, no editing much and mostly glowing reviews. Not being salty, but that is how to make money at this and the links. Not taking the time on each video, editing it, testing what I can charging etc and talking about bad areas too. takes quite a long time for each video so I can't physically do 3-4 lights a week even if I got them. Still I'll carry on doing the videos with what turns up ;-D Thanks for dropping by I appreciate it

Try Nitecores MH25s; I tossed my Warrior X Pro in a drawer since it came along. To be honest, I hated that damn WXP from the second I hit the button; it's the 2100 lumen, 500-meter throw version, unlike this video, mine has a horrible puke greenish/yellow beam, worse yet, the hot spot, or rather, where the hot spot should be, is an even darker green hole in the center of the beam; I should have returned it when I had the chance; that's on me. I've also purchased a Nitecore P20i to replace my M2R Pro Warrior; I know the MH12s is more the M2R's competition, but I wanted the stainless steel head and ceramic glass breakers that came on the P20i. Olight still feels like the stronger-built of the two brands, but, at least for me, I want a hundred-plus dollar flashlight to perform great, and IMHO, Nitecore wins this category's hands down. Olight emailed me about three weeks ago to say they're releasing a new, cool white Warrior 3; I replied with; sorry Olight, at this point you've lost me to Nitecore for good.

@@MrBazReviews I wish I could say the same for mine; it's the 2100 lumens 500-meter "Upgraded LED"; after watching your video, I'd say it's much more of a down grade. Mine has a horrible dark greenish-yellow hot spot; much darker than the rest of the beam. I'd have been content if mine performed as the one you illustrated. Yes, it's built very well; however, my new MH25s blows it away on every other level, at least, IMO.

@@The.Best.Collector Clearly, you need to reread my post; I was referring to the Warrior X Pro, Olight states it is a neutral white; the Warrior 3 is an upgraded cool white. For goodness sake, just go to their website, they illustrate the difference for all to see. As for your "useless competitors" comment, I got a good laugh from it; this simply proves you've never tried them. I own a plethora of Olight products, they make some really tough stuff; a lot like a Timex, "they take a licking and keep on ticking"; however, there are indeed competitors that are every bit as good, and in some ways superior to Olight, it all depends on what product, and capabilities of that product you're looking for.

This one is more "long range" based, they vary depending on what you want to use it for. For something like that I think most decent power output ones will be good enough for looking into a water tank, you might find something a bit wider beam more suited to that. But most will do the job I think

The dual polarity 21700 batteries are becoming more popular across the board now with Nitecore introducing their HPI series which is similar (and works in my Olight M2R Pro). Dual polarity cells allow you to make the torches thinner because you don't need the double wall. Also allows you to do fancy things like power beacons or charging directly from one side. The Nitecore batteries are better than the Olight ones because you can charge those in normal chargers as well.
@MrBazReviews
@MrBazReviews 3 жыл бұрын
True about the size, however Olight have moved almost entirely to custom cells, and whilst some did let you use your own (Original Warrior), H1R and some without the magnetic charging, most of the new ones don't even let you do that. Also the price of the custom cells, particularly the 21700 cannot be seen as anything other than a price gouge IMO So it's probably not done to keep them thinner, but to boost profit margins on overpriced custom batteries
@oldbones9205
@oldbones9205 2 жыл бұрын
The Nitecore i series batteries will also work in their non-proprietary battery lights, like the MH25s; this light will run on everything from the 123's, 18650's and both types of 21700's; IMHO, Nitecore is knocking Olight out of the game in many ways. I own a lot of Olights; however, the M2R Warrior Pro and Warrior X Pro are the only ones that use their modified 21700 battery; they're also the two that sit in the kitchen draw 99.9% of the time anymore. I have to admit, I was looking at the new Warrior X 3 when on sale, but got lucky when my son in law purchased one first; while Olight claims 560 meters throw against the MH25s's 501 meters, and I'm not saying it doesn't do it; neither I nor my son in law could distinguish any concern able differents between the Warrior X 3 and Nitecore MH25s; tho, I must say, the Warrior X 3 is a huge improvement over past Warrior X versions; for Olight enthusiasts, it would make for a worth wild purchase.

Thanks for the review! There are different opinions about this light and I consider to get it. My personal opinion about it according to the information I have got: *I fully agree about the need for the special Olight battery and that other 21700s can't be used. It's not even possible to charge the battery in a normal battery charger which takes 21700. Definitely a big drawback! *Olight's charging system seems to be very nice with the magnetic connection. *The user interface is simple and I personally like it lacks strobe. There are many multimode lights(and I have many) so I like the simplicity with only low and high with this light. *I like the design of it. It's "hardcore" and screams for talking it out in the field. It also provides good grip. *Neutral white LED is my choice when it's an option so this is a plus here. *I find it bad that Olight pushes the high mode to the extreme but understand this is because of the lumen race. Better had been if the high mode was for example around 1200lm. With the massive head and high battery capacity it surely could hold 1200lm constant for 80-90min without need of stepdown. Every time the light goes up to 2250lm it sucks a lot of energy and runtime which could be used at a lower still very useful brightness level. That extra ~1000lm appears just a bit brighter for the eye but the load for the battery is significantly harder, and the heat will be significantly higher as well. I have read several reviews and looked at probably more than 20 youtube reviews of it but I have still not found an answer on the question: if you put on the light at high mode until the stepdown to 1000lm level and then turn it off and instantly on again: will it reset to 2250lm for some another minute or will it go back to the 1000lm level it was at? It's also interesting to know how depleted the battery can be and still go to high mode(and at what level it then will be).
@MrBazReviews
@MrBazReviews 3 жыл бұрын
It's temperature controlled there is no way to get the 1000lm unless you do the drop down. If you power if off it will try to get to the 2250lm again it will drop down if it can't or might do so quickly. This is why I complained Olight were unwise to have only 2 power levels and not only a high 1000lm but the low isn't exactly that low either. You really need 4 power levels for a light like this and that would eliminate the complaints. So no you can't just get back to 1000lm you have to go through the drop down I don't like it much I think the older Warrior X was better and you could use your own batteries. The custom cell can be charged in a charger if you put a spacer on the top recessed contact. Again I think Olight are heading in the wrong direction with the custom cells Also you don't need 2250lm for long range you can easily beat that with half the output, it's about the beam intensity on these lights. Hitting 2250lm also wears the battery out faster hence the desire for more power levels. In short no I wouldn't buy it, like the beam and tint but it's not my kind of light
@patricj951
@patricj951 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrBazReviews Thank you for the fast reply! So if I understand you right the light will attempt to reach the 2250lm level at high but the temperature determines whether the drop down will occur after a minute or a maybe just few seconds. You confirm the stress for the battery with the high output, and I also think about the LED: for the sake of lifetime and reliability it's not either good to push it to the extreme, which according to what I read is the case for an XHP 35 HI at 2250lm.

Using Olight"s proprietary battery in the torch and having its own charging systems is not really a downside to most users. Olight wants you to get the most of of their light and having a special battery makes sense. Since many off brands of 18650 and 21700 batteries can be problematic, this makes the Olight battery the right choice
@MrBazReviews
@MrBazReviews 4 жыл бұрын
Disagree there is nothing special about the battery it's just a custom design. Other brands are equally as good if you stick to quality makers. There is no logical reason to restrict battery use to only custom Olight cells, other than to lock users into buying Olight cells. I am here to provide accurate information, and to be impartial and critical when needed. Otherwise I end up being a shill/advert for a maker, and I am far from that. There are plenty around though, so take your pick if that's what you like. IMO it is not in the users interests to have custom cells on lights (applies to all makers who do it), they can decide for themselves if that is a problem or not. It def is a downside if you use other lights and have batteries, you can't use them in this light. I would recommend the first Warrior X over this

Hate the 2 minutes before it overheats. Thats a dumb plan. Prefer 1000 or 1200 lumins for an hour to 2 minutes than drop

It's what you get for a higher output, more heat. But yes many prefer less lumens and a longer run time

The tactical flashlight does not have a strobe! This is fail. Olight, you're going somewhere the wrong way.

Olight went the wrong way a good few years ago, their obsession with custom cells ruined the appeal to me and many others. I gave up on the company some time ago, now they don't even send items because they can't handle the non glowing reviews! I wouldn't buy their products, the company went rogue for some weird reason.

After only 2 months my warrior x pro failed and chloe at customer service refused to help.I'm out 200 dollars cuz I bought the pressure switch too but I'm glad I had this failure now rather than in a fight since this light was on my go to rifle. I switched back to my 10 year old sure fire that still rocks like a champ but stuck having to replace all my lights on my weapons being I was a huge olight fan and put them on all my rifles and pistols. Olight is not battle ready gear and if u can't trust your gear u already lost the fight so use at your own risk. Me personally I'm tired of seeing people get screwed by companies I'm a little mad at olight, they didn't even try to help even after I asked about paying them to repair it so I could at least use it around the house or camping instead of having a 200 dollar paperweight. I just can't throw it away it's still brand new and the cheap skate in me won't let me. Maybe I can find someone who can put better internals in than what olight used either way shame on you olight!

Sorry for your trouble. With these lights Bantac send them in (Olight dealer) I don't deal directly with Olight, and they've not sent a review sample for a long time. Last email I sent was asking them to remove videos re-uploaded without my permission, so I can't say I have a great relationship with the company, as this isn't the case. To be honest with you, I'm losing interest in their products, and have done for some time. What I would suggest is maybe hit them on social media (facebook etc) and see if that has a result I have done this before, and it can help just a suggestion

8:01 the drop down test. Blame Olight for not letting users select that power level

Worse and worse, from Olight M23 Javelot to warrior x then to warrior x pro which is the worst flashlight .

To me they're going backwards in some ways, I'm also not exactly swamped with offers to send stuff in for review via Olight - price you pay for being critical of some product decisions. There are plenty of Olight sales channelsout there who skip over the weak points, sadly. It's not awful but it could have been so much more
