“Let there be light, and there was light, and He was that the light was good”. Great video Simon, on a not as common pottery form.

I didn’t notice a single response to any comments or questions. But I’m hoping your one of the few KZfaq host/creators who actually respond to or engage with your audience. Thank you for the video

I engage some of the time, but don’t feel I have to necessarily. Sometimes I think I’ll disable the comments. We all suffer from too much information, too much commenting, too much giving reviews of this and that….it all gets old doesn’t it!? I’m now 16 years on KZfaq, and I’ve done a lot of the leg work already, ….years ago ! + I also answer a lot of emails to boot :)

@@sleachpots I hope I wasn’t being rude. But I’ve almost gotten used to never hearing back from the creator’s that I view. But I thank you for taking the time sir. Did your multi wick lamp work out? Thank you. And I’m a fan of your work.

I've never done this but if it was me if get scallop shell from beach and push shell in to clay for shell stability, use nettle cord wick with fish guts for fuel...then no need for potters wheel, the shell doesn't need sealing and veins of shell you could put multiple wicks,as I said I haven't done this just thought about a simpler way of doing same thing while watching video,it might not work but I can't see why it wouldn't

Hello sir, any chance you have some footage of your multi wick lamp in action??? I’ve been thinking of making a 3 or 4 wick version myself. I was thinking of cutting open an aluminum soda can and imbedding ever so slightly into the wet clay to act as a light deflector. Great video. Thank you

I love all your videos. Now I have a question. I have been making oil lamps the week. None have been fired yet, still drying. I have heard lots of stories that they all leak oil no matter what clay or glaze you use. I had the idea of coating the inside with epoxy. Any thoughts? Do you not have that problem?

I recently acquired a variety of four authentic ancient oil lamps from a reputable auction house at a reasonable price. Have been wanting to know how to resurrect them to shine light again. Simple functional design used for thousands of years. Made from clay and plant fiber. No batteries or electricity, only oil from olives or sesame seeds. Ultimate off-grid green technology. 🪔🕯️💡

I would like to add that cotton wicks are THE best along with the olive oil which is not combustible by itself. DON'T use these with any other oil, only olive oil.
