What a beautiful-looking and sounding Oliver, I first came across Oliver tractors in Australia in the early seventies and always thought their colour scheme always stood out, thanks for posting.

You really have some nice tractors man...that 1955 sounds beautiful...my great grandfather was a big time oliver man and I wish I could show him these! Thanks for the awesome videos and keeping that old iron alive as well!!

Michael, if my memory serves me correctly there was a Oliver Service Bulletin in 1974 that said the 1955 injection pump should be timed at 0 degrees. When this was done it reduced cylinder pressure somewhat and they actually started better with the retarded timing. For myself I never removed the pump drive shaft when removing or installing the injection pump. The pump shops do not need the drive shaft to work on the pump. You can always fine tune the timing with the mount slots. Great to see a 1955 short wheel base again. Thanks for the video. Love the sound!

There were 2 service bulletins. The first one was to reduce the timing advance on the 1855 from 4 degrees to 2 degrees to reduce heat and cylinder pressure. The second one said to time all 310 turbos to TDC to aid starting. But if everything in the engine is on spec or better there is no need to do it. And I’d rather put the shaft in the pump rather then try to balance the pump, start the umbrella seals without rolling them and start the bolts all at the same time.

First post didn't go through nothing new there. Just like to say I have been following you for a long time, when you stopped and now come back. You have so much knowledge in that head of yours, Thanks to Dad for teaching you at a young age. Great job you did on this tractor hope that you are proud.

Nice, sounds good. Can't wait to see what it does in the field. I had the same problem with the banjo fittings on my 190xt and now fighting with the D17 when i put the pumps back on, chasing leaks until it stops. Glad this one didn't give you a fit.

Sounds good, nothing sweeter than a 310 when it's running good. I had a 1950-T that started on 2 cylinders as I tightened the lines up. I've started it sitting outside at -5F without a block heater, just the manifold pre-heater.

@@Oliver66FarmBoy I've heard they are hard starters. We also have a late 4440. It starts really well. But the best starter is our White 185. Typically if it spins over 2X it's running.

I just had the pump rebuilt on my 1655 and reset timing just like you did but at 4 degrees btdc as book called. I noticed that most of the lope I had also disappeared .

Guess I’ll see if it stays gone or comes back after some run time.
@michiganfarmer5208

@Oliver66FarmBoy mine will try to lope some right at 850-900 rpms. Not below or above now. And the lope if very subtle compared to before. This 1655 is by far the best cold starting waukesha I've had. It can be 20 outside and I'll run the preheater for 40 seconds and she pops right off. Not being plugged in or anything. I wonder how many of these Oliver's with the known idle lope are actually suffering from lower compression? I always thought the lope was normal until I rebuilt this 1655. I've checked timing multiple times and everything else. It runs extremely strong and snappy.

I think it needs a cab now for your sprayer for use on the spayer. I think it would look cool with a tractor cab.
@kennyz6533
@kennyz6533 Жыл бұрын
He’s got a 2-105 in the works for that. Much better, more sealed cab on a 2-105 for keeping spray mist out anyways. Plus the 1955 looks really good open station. Chris Losey has one with MFWD and a cab if you’d like to see one.
