Barbara Bruno Oliver lied about the existence of his son. He didn't want to, but felt he had no choice cause the mother of the boy forced him to. Felicity felt betrayed that he didn't tell her (even though several others knew about it) and that his first instinct is to always go it alone. So she broke the engagement.
