Yes in a very very very loooooong time! I’m not sure if it’s just been so long since I’ve heard song this authentic & soulful that I’ve just forgotten the way it grabs ahold of you… But I’m thinking he definitely in my Top Ten maybe even my Top Five when it comes to how authentic & impactful his music feels to me!! Part of it is his ability as a writer & how his lyrics seem to really resonate & draws you in & grabs ahold of your soul. And lastly but certainly not least of all is his voice & the way in which he sings you know without question he’s singing out his personal lived experiences & there’s just something that happens when those things come together in the most authentic way I don’t think can be replicated. (Likely why we can’t really put our finger on it when we hear other artists sing songs a large portion of the biggest singers don’t actually write so many of their hit songs… We like those but as I sit here listening to Oliver sing his songs there’s just some part I’m realizing isn’t there with so many artists these days that grab you they way Oliver/Chris does! In closing I also want say I can’t ever remember a song that went so thermo nuclear viral the way Rich Men North of Richmond did. Not only was it popular but I also can’t ever remember a song impacting so many different types of people. I’ve seen all races uniting, genders uniting, creed & nationality all feeling or remembering for the first time I can remember in a way since 9-11 Which in a way is hard to wrap your head around. My hope & prayer is we all hold on to this feeling & all make an effort to hold on & remember we have so damn much more in common than we don’t. And in that process we start encouraging everyone around us to turn the stupid TV especially the News media off bc all they do is do all they can do to divide up & make us feel like we hate each other. Research has shown mainstream News media intentionally try to pit viewers against each other & stoking thing they know know causes people to get angry. They do that bc they’ve learned people who are angry will tune in more often & stay longer. Same goes for politicians nothing pleases them more than getting their side angry at the other side. The literally stoke the anger bc they know if we’re too busy being mad or at least thinking we hate earth other bc that’s when they’re able to do whatever they want while you’re occupied. Last thing is everyone should be expecting they will try False Flags or whatever they can & it will probably involve race in some way bc they’re seeing people who have been divided starting to come together and nothing & I do mean nothing scares them more than the thought of us coming together & demanding change. They lose all their power when they can’t pit us against each other! Anyway, I hope & pray we continue unite! Remember tell everyone you know to stop watching the News & watch us come together!! Peace & Love! 🙏👊🇺🇸

He has had a tough life, but he owns a small farm now, and he is a devout Christian - if you hear him live you will hear him read from the Bible - he is the real deal. Hits message is FIRE. My Nf friend! Okay lady this is getting a little weird, with our music taste but yes ma’am this man just brought me back to a little George Jones, little Ricky Skaggs, little Bocephus, and a hint of Travis Tritt! I’m also from the south and a veteran of the army so I know about being away from the south. Now even when stationed in Texas, that’s not the south and no clue why people say so..... any state that when you order bbq and it’s beef not pork.... it’s not the SOUTH!! Sorry for the rant, I’m just speaking truth! And I’ll see you next video ma’am!

You just made me laugh out loud. I just arrived in Texas yesterday and went for bbq. My nephew had a look if horror when bbq beef was served. And yes, Texas is it’s own thing. We have such great music taste! Lol

So I see people calling this Appalachia and all the hillbillies their trying to claim it. I’m from Eastern NC. I’ve never liked Appalachian, bluegrass or folk music. This is DIFFERENT. His voice is something like Hank Williams Sr. In my opinion, this is OLD COUNTRY but with a populist appeal. His lyrics appeal to the masses in some of his songs. That’s how he’s different. Even though he sounds like a Hank Williams type his message appeals to a broader group of people. Plus, his voice is very soulful. In crazy to hear this sound in 2023 with a message that appeals to us today.
@redheadedneighbor10 ай бұрын
I feel like I hear Appalachia influence and most definitely Hank and Hank Jr. The feel is so much Woody Guthrie. I have really enjoyed him.
@markm462310 ай бұрын
This guy puts ANYONE in the country/bluegrass/Appalachia genre to shame today, at least the ones I’ve heard. Listening to him I feel like I’ve went back to 1950 and reconnected with my ancestors from those days because this is the sound my family loves for generations. We all knew and complained in the 90s when they started changing country. This man though is deeper than one genre because his message appeals to so many.

It must be nice to come from an area that's associated with a particular type of music, like an identity really. If I didn't already know I could guess you were from the South from your accent but I don't think it's that strong at all, occasionally a word will have that real Southern accent to it but generally it's, what's the right word, softer? Anyway, he's got a great voice, I'd say I preferred the first one but I still liked that though.
@redheadedneighbor11 ай бұрын
Yes, I lived in the Midwest for 13 years and much of my accent changed. Partially so I wouldn’t call attention to myself. But, I can not shake “y’all.” Lol. I don’t even try.
@mattmid701211 ай бұрын
@@redheadedneighbor 😂 I think the first time I heard "y'all" was as a kid when they were running repeats of Beverley Hillbillies in the late seventies. Everyone at junior school (7yrs to 11yrs, we didn't use grades then here) started going around saying "Y'all come back now" in bad Southern American accents for a while 😂
