Growing up, that one line was a meme in my house when we kids would ask Dad for more dessert. Holding the bowl/plate up, putting on the accent and everything. XD Now I realize that Oliver Twist getting dessert, or even a decent meal a day at that place would have been an outright luxury. Those grownups and boys who set him up in the workhouse and even throughout the story were the WORST, but at least it this was an event that got him closer to his happy ending, so that's something I guess.

If I had to make an evil spectrum for the characters of Oliver! The Musical which deviate quite a bit from the book regarding several characters who are either toned down to the point they're morally grey or likeable like the case of Fagin or Artful Dodger, and others who don't even appear, and I haven't even read the book but this is loosely from what I've heard in other adaptations. But judging just from the musical these would be the three most evil characters or set of characters portrayed in their mistreatment of the poor, innocent child. 3. Mr Sowerberry the Undertaker, Mrs Sowerberry and Noah Claypole: The last two dislike Oliver, insult him and his mother and treat him as a slave. While the Undertaker doesn't actually do the first two things and is mostly portrayed as a drunk in the musical, the fact that he exploits Oliver for child labour for his coffins simply proves that he was a product of his time and how reprehensible they were towards poor people, including children who they viewed as property or commodities. The only thing where they treated him better than in the workhouse was that they fed him better allegedly as they didn't count on gruel which was all he was used to having before. 2. The Bumbles, clearly the cruelest of the authority characters seen in the film. They wanted to punish Oliver because it was in the name of the law but would have treated the other kids the same way nevertheless. They really all just stand as a product of their times and the immense twisted-fairness poverty system at the time. 1. Bill Sikes: He doesn't need an introduction. He is literally portrayed as the most evil character ever in the musical from the thieves' perspective who becomes even more evil and cunning than his master who trained him, unlike the book where they're pretty much both as morally reprehensible though Sikes did have more of a reputation in the book for being meaner, violent and a cold-blooded murderer even though he supposedly felt resentment over the death of Nancy.

I saw this in London as a child. Late that night whilst leaving, I rounded a corner and happened upon an old man seeing roasted chestnuts. He roasted the chestnuts in what looked like something his grandfather left him back in 1831. The man filled a small paper bag with these delicious little things.
