You wanna know something crazy. When I was 15 my best friend killed him self and I got really depressed and within 3 months I went from a physical fit 180 to out of shape and over weight 270. It wasn’t until by random chance I was at the gym my sister worked at waiting for her to get off I was bored and saw a running magazine that looked interesting. The magazine was doing a special on Nick Symmonds and it went into detail on his workout routine and training habits etc… What interested me most about the magazine was how he had a 1 month workout schedule that he made super easy to follow along. The great thing about the program was that he focused on a a lot of pool exercises so being over weight it was much easier for my body to get used to that. After following that for a month I noticed a great change in my body and become fully committed to the fitness lifestyle. Within 3 months I was back down to 190 and in the best shape of my life. Now I am 21 still into fitness and I have to say thank you Nick, you unintentionally helped me change my life around when I was in my lowest point in my life. Recently I just watched your “running a mile every hour for 24 hours” and it wasn’t until after the video that it clicked in my head that you were the dude on the magazine I read 6 years ago! Thanks for everything you do you’re a great inspiration. I’m glad I was able to express how great full I am for what you did to my life I hope you get the chance to read this.

I can appreciate your story, but it's hard for me to believe you put on a pound per day, and then took it off just as quick. Was the timeline perhaps a little longer than 3 months?

@@10willybilly Good job. While knowing your workout plan would be interesting, what's more interesting to me is the mindset it would take to turn it around. I've gone through that in my life, it's like a switch turning on, but I wonder about the spiritual change, the paradigm shift, the mindset it takes to do that. There are always other factors going on--if we could really explain that we'd have something.

quick tip for mile or longer running that is not on a track from an ex varsity cross country runner: use the double kick at the end. it is the most potent way to crush a persons soul and beat them out. Kick once, about half force of your full kick, when you are about at 300 to 400 meters out. just go for 100 meters or so, enough to put a gap between you and the person behind. Drop back into a normal pace after the 100 m, and let them waste their kick thinking they can catch up to you, the minute you can hear their footsteps closing in, release the true full power kick and dont look back. never look back. just sprint, sprint and imagine the finish 10 feet back from where it actually is. i was pretty tall and decently built in highschool, so i was always the anchor of our team, but god damn it if i wasnt the anchor with the best kick on the course then i dont know who was. Even when im exhausted to the point of vommiting, if i hear someone getting close, or see someone sub 100 meters infront of me before the finish, it is on like donkey kong. I'm a sprinter at heart, and even tho i chose xc over track, theres no way i would let my self finish any race like its not a 100m dash.
