My heart can't take these episodes anymore. Too much love and excitement! Suga is the STAR 💫 of episode 21, and I must admit.... I have been waiting for this moment!!! We ended last episode with Mama Suga about to take the court to replace Kageyama, and he does not disappoint.
This Haikyuu episode is awesome for many reasons: 1. Kageyama learns some very important lessons, 2. Suga is able to show his leadership, 3. We see that Suga has what it takes to be exactly what Karasuno needs. "No matter who scores the point, Karasuno wins"- that's what this episode is all about 🧡

@@seekittycat it was a difficult moment for him. The trope of the "unspoken words" there usually means that's how the person really feels inside. That's why when he finds the more appropriate wording, he turns away quickly and avoid Kageyama's gaze, almost as if he didn't believe what he was saying and was just saying it because he thought it was the better thing to say. It was at that moment that he realized he's exhausted his usefulness and that after all is said and done it'll still be Kageyama that steps back in. This is why he's especially moved by Ukai's casual words of "next time".

28:25 Little detail here, but Sugawara was about to tell Kageyama “Go win this” becuase he’s usually so used to Kageyama doing everything, but switched it up to “ *Let’s* win this” since he now feels confident

I think it's also supposed to signify "you/me" vs. "we/us" mindset, as this whole episode highlights how points made by either one of them (you/me) all count towards their team (we/us). Suga catches himself when he's about to say "go win this" because that separates himself from Kageyama, whereas "let's win this" includes himself in the team along with Kageyama; it makes them one instead of individuals. He's saying that he'll be fighting alongside Kageyama, even if he's not on the court, as they are a "we/us" and not a "you/me." Not sure if that makes sense, but that's how I always took it. Granted, I'm Korean and things make a whole lot more sense in Japanese to Korean than Japanese to English without any room for confusion so... LOL. I always have to clarify this bit for my friends when we watch together as well.

I really appreciated how Kageyama handled his benching. To start with, when Hinata called him out on how he he had been acting, Kageyama didn't get mad at Hinata, but at himself for acting that way and not realizing it himself. He didn't sulk about being benched either, but did exactly what the coach told him and watched carefully and analyzed what was going on from the sideline so that he'd be better prepared when it was his turn again.
@solusgamer164
@solusgamer164 2 жыл бұрын
True, but it's clear that Kageyama knew the difference between getting benched to recover and getting replaced. The flash back he has to getting benched in junior high shows he's fully aware of coach Ukai's plans to get him back in. I think that's really what made him so calm on the bench. Make no mistake, I too am giving him credit for his behavior, but I think a lot of it is his recognition that this team has his back. He's not going to be abandoned like last time despite making the same mistake. Instead, he feels the trust of his team, so he has a lot more motivation to be calm.
@BleydTorvall
@BleydTorvall 2 жыл бұрын
@@solusgamer164 Yeah, that was part of what I appreciated about how he handled the situation. He was able to recognize what it actually meant, which, at least from my experience, is not always the case in sports, especially at that age. The fact that he was completely open to constructive feedback from others like Ennoshita was also really nice. No resistance to the advice at all, just a "Huh, I never thought of that" sort of reaction.

If someone gets blocked she groans or complains and when they score she smiles or brags. Not only proof of her competetive nature and proffesional experience, but also a testament to her genuine interest in the show. I knew she was going to give us something special from episode one when Hinata didn't get the last point after his amazing play/hit. She just had to pause and get upset for a minute! XD I love it!

Thanks for another amazing video! Honestly, I cried at the "next time" bit, I love Suga so much.. there's like ~10 contenders for my 2nd/3rd favorite character in Haikyuu, but Suga still holds a special place in my own love house😁 Well, anyway, your comment about how Oikawa and Suga operate in a similar way (heavy reliance on soft skills to cover technical abilities) is spot on and this concept is interesting. Also, after watching the episode again with you, I now have a theory that Suga's "textbook offense" style initially could come from the pressure of being a main/only setter. Like he said, great opponents affected him more before, it just now that he feels more confident and calm with Kageyama having his back. So with that and his tendency to blame himself for most things (the whole Dateko incident showed that well), he would automatically fall back on low risk (but potentially low reward) basic technique and it became ingrained. Hope that does make sense lol. And oooh, I so want to comment on some other things you've said, but even pointing them out would almost feel like a spoiler😖 But we'll get there eventually, so for now - thanks again and can't wait for the next one!

A great, fun-to-watch vid as usual. I'm happy she remembers Ennoshita, 1 of my favs. Just adding my support, & while I'm at it, I'm gonna leave my personal opinion about some of the "iffy" translations that stood out more than the rest. 8:58 「慌てないでいつもよりほんの少しためて飛びな」➔ "don't panic, though. Just jump a little higher than usual" should be more like "don't panic, & jump after accumulating momentum/pausing for a bit compared to your usual (timing)". This is clearly a mistranslation that was caused by mishearing "tamete" as "takaku" (I mean, their translation implies that Hinata isn't usually jumping to his highest point while blocking, but did so after being told, then got surprised that he was successful) . It's basically the same thing Sugawara was saying later at around 13:30. 13:13 「日向!ダイレクトだ!」「ダイレクト、初めてだ」➔ "Hinata! It's coming directly to you!" "This is the 1st time it's come directly to me" should be "Hinata! Direct (attack)!' "This is the 1st time I'm gonna do/try a direct (attack)" The move where a player hits the 1st touch right back at the other team rather than passing to his teammates is called a "direct" in Japan. &, of course, Hinata saying he's never had the ball come right at him before this is ridiculous. 16:14 「スパイクは早速俺のとこ狙われるし」➔ "their spikes are directed right at me" should be more like "right off the bat, the spikes/hits get aimed at my spot". Sugawara is describing how the opposing team is aiming their hits at the space left open above him due to his shorter height, not that they're aiming them RIGHT AT him. 19:31 「でも他の皆はそこそこ技術あるからそれなりに打てちゃうと思うんだよね」➔ "I think that everyone else also has their own techniques & that affects how they hit the ball" should be more like "but since everyone else has a certain level of technique, they're able to pretty much hit (the not so perfect-fit for them sets) regardless". Their translation makes it seem like Ennoshita is explaining that different hitters have different preferred sets, but here, at this point in his speech, he's actually trying to say that even when the sets may not be the best type for them, the rest of the team would make something of them anyways because they have the skills to do so, unlike Hinata, who would likely end up messing up. 20:46 「で、レシーブに秀でた西谷・澤村の少数二人で対応しようと思う」➔ "So, we'll use Nishinoya & Sawamura, the few who received his serves, to counter" should be more like "So, we'll counter with the fewer-2-man (measure) of N & S, the 2 who excel in receives". I guess they thought that changing the "those who excel" part to "the 2 who actually were successful in receiving Oikawa's serves during this game" would be easier to get the point across?

Hi Sarah! So glad you got back safely. Couple questions for you: 1) did you talk to your fellow Olympians about Haikyu while you were abroad? 2) Did you see how the Japanese team played the Haikyu theme whenever they scored during the Olympics!?

6:08 To be fair to Oikawa, the current generation from Seijoh met Karasuno for the 1st time at the practice match, which is why Seijoh's coaches are also surprised by Suga's setting abilities since the latter did not play at all during the practice match. It also explains why back during the practice game, Daichi, Suga and Asahi (the 3 Karasuno high school seniors) were surprised when Kageyama told them that the setter they faced (until Oikawa came in) was not the actual starting setter for Seijoh.

Sarah, thank you very much for the reaction, I love your reactions, the high school level in Japan is very good in real life, in this season which is the intercollegiate, there are also the spring tournaments, they exist in real life. The boy who this year debuted as a national team in Japan is called Ran Takahashi in his last year of high school together with his team won a national and he remained as one of the best players of the entire tournament, best spiker. He currently plays plays for Nippon Sport Science University's and the national team. By the way, during middle school he worked as a libero and in high school he changed to Wing spiker. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7OEnMxmldS9qHk.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oZ2fZdaUqdCUgZc.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n91haqtjt6jLoKs.html

Yeah that call was...really close, more importantly, and I'm surprised I missed it in the many times I watched this episode, that's another milestone in Shoyo and his journey to becoming a full fledged player who can stand on the court by himself with the best, it's a tool that while new and unpolished will go on to be an important weapon in his arsenal.

FULL CHRONOLOGICAL LIST: (please upvote for Sarah! thanks!) Season 1 OVA - Lev Genzan Season 2 OVA - Akaten Movie 3 - The Talent and The Sense (mostly recap, IMPORTANT SCENE STARTS AT 1:19:30) Season 3 Movie 4 - Battle of Concepts (mostly recap, IMPORTANT SCENE STARTS AT 1:25:32) OVA - Land VS. Air OVA - The Path of The Ball Season 4 Part 1 - To The Top - Part 1 Season 4 Part 2 - To The Top - Part 2 (some episodes throughout the seasons have END CREDIT SCENES so watch out for those. Not to be confused with NEXT EPISODE PREVIEWS which you shouldn't watch) After you are caught up, and if you’re still looking for more Haikyuu, there are Stage Plays 1-9. Whoever is in charge of casting/hair/make up truly loves Haikyuu lol. The actors are so hardworking/play multiple characters/have so much choreography memorized. Everything is so precise because the actors have to stay in sync with the projections, soundtrack, and moving stage. Cheesy at times but definitely hilarious and should satisfy your want for more Haikyuu lol. (The 10th stage play takes place after the most recent anime season.) Enjoy!

I prefer watching season 3 by episodes tho, not the movie version. Season 3 by episode has this build up + the songs/audios/ops are on point I guess, that's why we were hyped for that one 'moment', if you know what I mean. 🤣

@@Ennaira555Warriors lmao, I thought the season 3 movie is the "movie 3" I first ignored it to be the season 2's movie because there's "OVA - Akaten" before it but it is indeed season 2's movie now that you've said it. The list is not very clear at first glance, I suggest you to put numbers on it but anyway, that's good.
