I JUST TODAY pinned one of these hanging jewellery organisers to my Pinterest crochet board and you posted this tutorial the SAME day!! this is a sign!!!

I offer a substitution for those of us who are not good at casting on stitches for knitting - you can easily just chain the 52 required and then do a row of double crochet. If you use a thin enough dowel. you can weave the dowel into the double crochets. Also, if you are interested in making the dowel match the border color, you can paint it to match your yarn. Obviously craft acrylics are the best choice, and sealing the dowel in a quality spray paint sealant is a necessary step. For a pin/button holder I used similar to this project, I anchored the top dowel with pony beads that matched my yarn. One last thing, the border stitch could be swapped out for the crab stitch or the fan stitch. Thanks for reading, amazing tutorial Paige as always. I love your work.

i made this today! i noticed someone has offered in comments an alternative to casting on, i used a different method to both the one in the video and the suggested alternative so i will list that here as another alternative! I chained the 52 and then did a row of single crochet, making sure to wrap my working yarn around the dowel before pulling through my chain loop, this way i had a row of single crochet to easily start working into and it was much easier than having to get the tightness correct with the casting on 😊 also one thing i did notice is that i don't believe you actually need 52 stitches to begin, by the time i finished my first row of squares in row 7, i had one stitch left over, i calculated i have 17 squares going across each making use of 3 crochet stitches, 17x3 equals 51 so only 51 stitches are needed to begin 😊 thanks so much for the pattern, I just finished it and can't wait to hang my jewellery on it 💚💚

Love this video thank you!! A quick tip is to work in the tail end yarn into your first row of single crochets so you don't have to weave it in! 😁

Love this tutorial! I’m currently making it and I followed everything exact but for some reason my mesh stitches are coming out smaller than yours and not as wide? I hope that makes sense but basically my hanger is starting to look more triangular than square even though I did the 52 loops to start. I’m not sure if maybe it’s the yarn I’m using? I am using an Acrylic 4 weight with 4.0 hook.
