Red heart super saver ombre is, by a long shut, my go to when I want a perfect blending of colors, without having any drastic change in color. The yarn is a bit hard on the fingers but still, my favorite! Great review, thank you for your sincerity in this very confusing ‘ombre yarn’ available on the market right now!

I like the deeper color tones of the red heart super saver. Big twist is another favorite. ❤😂😂😂 the laughs are for your shock for the red heart softness factor.

I know you can't use the premier yarn long because of your skin but take a look at some other podcasts who worked it up . To me it looks more like a striped than ombre . The purple is the closest to ombre. Redheart has them all beat their colors flow into each other My opinion 😊❤

I’ve used RHSS ombré and it’s one of my faves. I made a blanket from the coral one (seashell) the darker pink (anemone) and the mint one. I don’t have skin irritation but some yarns do bother after awhile so I get it. I’ve never used the others but I have used Caron Colorama ombré which is beautiful too. I knew you weren’t going to like the just yarn because so many others who have reviewed it have all been surprised by the roughness. I wish they would’ve used the basix yarn base and made an ombré from it or use the anti-pilling base and make the ombré into a cake like a sweet roll now that would be great and I’d pay that price for it. Thank you again Jen for your honest opinion. Also some of the newer rhss ombre yarns are made in India. So the ones with deeper jewel toned colors are from India

❓Am I CrAzY?I love a true ombre, but I feel like so many yarns are not, they are striped! I thought the definition of an ombre was a 'gradual' shift that was not visible. Like Colorama Halo. Am I the only one who feels this?

Thanks for such full review. I am from Brazil. We don't have these yarns here. But I think your video brings this debate about allergies, how does the yarn feels, possible quemicals used and its consequences in our health to another level. It is a very important topic. It can sound boring, but my allergy experience is just not to push it, not to make your body to get used to something that it rejects. It can make things so worst. Sometimes people need to make a lot of treatments to strength their immune system, treatment for allergies and all else... and even so they must keep away from these quemicals that make our bodies react like that. Very important subject. 😊😊😊😊

I recently started buying big twist and I really like that one the best. Someone gave me loops and threads and I thought that was nice till I tried big twist. I have never cared for red heart but lately I have noticed they are getting softer. Your reviews are wonderful, I am sorry about your skin sensitivity. Ty for being you!

Red Heart was Coats n Clark made in USA. Company was bought and basically it is a new company. Good to know big twist is a good value. Thanks for this

The big twist ombré reminds me in color to the mandala ombré. But mandala ombré is super soft and rates a 10 for sure.

I don’t know if you have watched llama mama Kayla‘s most recent video but I had to cry when she said they amputating another finger not a quote, but I am so deeply deeply sad that she has to go through this again. I love the colorama halo yarn. It's the most seamless ombre I've come across. And it's super soft

You are absolutely right - life is too short to not get the softest yarn. Or the best beer (aka not what you drank in college). Or kindly-fitting underpants. ;-) When I learned to knit, it was on a cheap polyester yarn that definitely gave me a rash - and I said Never Again!! This far, no further! I enjoyed your video. I refuse to use rough stiff yarn. I have dry cracked hands with arthritis and I would rather not suffer when I crochet. My favorite ombre is Mandala ombre.

I’ve used lots of the Red heart SS Ombré. I just love it. The colors are Thee best ombré’. It’s cheaper at Walmart! 😊

What a turn of events! I was not expecting any love of supersaver lol I have not used any of those. I mean I'm sure I used red heart years ago, I feel like it was the only yarn accessible to me when I was young, but I haven't tried any of these ombres. I'm still trying to get out of neutral land and jump into color with you 😅

Glenda did another swatch because the small ones emphasized the light color. Doing a blanket width made it blend better. However, I like the red heart bright colors.

Thanks Jenn, I always appreciate your honest opinions! I used to use RedHeart alot,,,but it seems so scratchy these days and I can't stand the way it feels while using it, but, that's me. Big Twist has become my go to...Premier,,,certain kinds, I like, Lion Brand Heartland,,love, love it! ❤️ Thanks for your time and your help...and your pain!

I started using the Big Twist Value yarns a few years ago making hats to donate to the local schools. My skin isn't as sensitive, but I definitely enjoy the Big Twist over any of the others although it does get a bit splitty occasionally. You can't beat it for softness and drape. I used Loops and Threads for a poncho think the extra bill would make it warmer and because of the colors I wanted, but really want thrilled using it. I'll definitely be super sad if Joann goes out of business and I can't get my Big Twist. I would pick RHSS next most likely, but would have to see what I can get from Hershner's or Mary Maxim. I love these kinds of comparison videos, so thank you so much for this one!

Wow!! thank you for this comprehensive review! I am so digging that teal with the big twist. yummy!! I enjoy the rhss ombre and had no issues but the first time I used the big twist I was amazed. squish for a great price. Yea, I am shooketh that you liked the rhss over the premiere!

Very interesting. The Big Twist doesn’t really look like a ombré yarn. Never used the red heart ombré , just bought the premier ombré only because of the price and yardage. I make charity blankets and Ty and go with price and yardage,fortunately don’t have issues with the feel of the yarn. Thank you for putting yourself through the feel test.

Thanks for reviewing the ombre yarns. I don’t have skin issues but felt of the red heart ombre in store and it was majorly rough. I was hoping premier’s yarn would have been softer.

I am using Craftsmart Value Ombre to make a scarf with sleeves for a friend. I like the feel of it. Haven't gotten enough completed yet to see how ombre it is but it is easy to work with

Good Morning 🤗 Crystal at Bag o Day uses a lot of Super Saver Ombré and I’ve found it to be a softer yarn. Not crazy about Caron but some of the colors I can’t pass up!! I made a blanket with the Big Twist Ombré Plum doubled and it did well. I don’t go to Michael’s since they have shrunken their yarns. Haven’t been lately. Love watching you make swatches 🥰. The Red ❤ ombre yarn at my local Walmart sells for $7.48 per 482yd skein. I am in PA. I love this ombre yarn..it does not irritate, as some red ❤ yarn does. I have sensitive skin, also. Have a beautiful day!

In order to get the other yarns I have to either buy online or travel an hour. I’m so far out in the backwards of Pa. All I have is Walmart and dollar tree. So I know just yarn and red heart. Just yarn was a treat while it was available at my dollar tree. I do get to the big craft stores occasionally that is also a treat. Love Red Heart ombré

Big Twist for softness and value on the ones you tested. But my favorite ombre is Colorama Halo. It's #1 for softness and color choices.

Thank you for the indepth review. The only ombre yarn I've used is Mandala ombre, the colors are pretty, the yarn is soft, but it does have a strange stretchyness to it, which may be good for hats but not blankets. ❤

Yardage is affected by diameter of the yarn. One difference between Red Heart Ombre and the Just Yarn is, Just Yarn weighs less but gives you more yards because it is a thinner yarn.

Don't do it, Jen! You like the Super Saver before and after a bit. It gave you issues. Stick with the Big Twist!

Hi, Jen. I agree with you about RHSS. It is so rough to knit with. I can't use it at all. I have used Premier Basix & it is better. It does seem to be true "you get what you pay for"! I end up having to buy better more expensive yarn. But, so interesting you think the RHSS is softer than the Premier Ombre. I will have to give RHSS another try. Thanks, Jen :)

I mean personally, I can easily tell the RH Ombre from the Premier just by looking. The Red Heart's color changes are much more subtle, it doesn't go from blue to bright white like the Premier does. The Red Heart fades into a lighter and lighter blues.

Thank you for the honest review. My favorite ombre yarn is Red Heart. Love the rich colors & the way the colors transition. Might eventually try Premier, but any time soon. I'm not a big fan Caron ombre yarn, and Big Twist is not a true ombre.

I believe Creative Grandma is the name but she did a large swatches of each of the ombré from both and compared them. Their ombré color changes are very different

Hi Jennifer, I also don’t like Red Heart Supersaver. I tried to make a blanket with it years ago. I found that some skeins were softer than others, and I’m talking about the same colors. I also found that even though they say you don’t have to worry about dye lot numbers, you do. I was making a huge Texas Longhorns C2C blanket. I was a third of the way done, when I noticed that there were two different shades of white going on. I was so upset that I stopped the blanket, and returned all the unused yarn. So, due to the inconsistency of the feel of the yarn, and the color issue, I have never used the Supersaver again.

your opinion matters. i have used the Caron, i felt it was nice. i got it on sale. i mostly always do a price per yard when it comes to yarn. my skin is sensitive but not to the point i couldn't use any of these, i do have issues with some red heart yarns though.

I've used and made an C2C afaghan with the Red Heart ombre, in scuba. Loved the color, and the blanket was so pretty with the ombre colors. After I washed it, it was alot softer. All in all I'd have to go with Red Heart for the time being ?? I just purchased some Big Twist yarn, and am excited to try it, feeling how soft it is in the skein. I've never used any of the other ombre yarns. Thanks for taking the time to do this for all if us, it helps alot in buying yarn!! Blessings Always 💕

WOW JENNIFER I always use red heart Super Saver Then I made my knees a blanket of the red heart Super Saver ombre in the blue Period Then the Caron OMBRE I tried that yarn And it felt just like the red heart yarn ombre Period And I said oh my God Jennifer's going to try it and she's going to Like it And look both Yarns she have a 4 too on softness and did not irritate her hands And when I said it I was not being mean Jennifer. Red Heart super saver has a better color saturation than Just Yarn. The colorways in Caron are pretty but I'm not a fan of Caron. I have not used the others. Thanks, Jennifer, for suffering through this.❤❤
