Just put two new latch arms on the Omega 1000 - can't believe how inexpensive they are! I did have to file down the inside plastic on the bottom of the arm - it wasn't completely flat. When the part is molded, there is some that must squeeze out and gets in the way when you are trying to install it. The edge the file on my Leatherman was perfect. I also had to put a slight bevel on the top opening on the motor to help the top of the latch go in. Then had to use a large flat blade screwdriver and hammer tapping from the top on an angle to get them in. Like someone else mentioned, it does wonders to adjust the blade height - no more vibration at all. Loosen the lock nut on the bottom, small flat blade screwdriver to turn the screw in till the blade touches the feeder chute, the back off a half turn and tighten the lock nut!

I just picked this juicer up from the thrift store for $4.00 US. I didn't even expect it to work, but it does, and much better than I expected too! A couple of carrots with a couple stalks of celery and wow delish! The problem that I'm having is unscrewing the clutch. It only turns 1/4 of a turn and I'm afraid to force it.

Great review of a superior juicer. I used mine just last week to juice apples and put up 10 gallons of cider. The pulp (or pumice) can be used as ingredients for many edible items as you mentioned, plus the chickens and goats love it! One hint, as the unit spins, juice travels along a channel and eventually spills out of the exit hole. However since the bottom of the exit hole is positioned slightly above the channel, a few ounces of juice always remains in the channel after the units stops spinning. Once the unit slows to a stop, I always tilt the juicer toward the collection vessel to drain every ounce of the delicious juice that would otherwise be discarded. Finally, when I juiced my apples I cut each one by hand. I've never before seen the implement that you used to quickly and efficiently slice the apple. Marvelous! I need one just like that. It would've save me time. It also appears to be a much safer way to slice hundreds of apples. Finally, for reasons I wont get into, I discard the apple core before juicing so as to avoid crushing the seeds. Thanks for the review! Now I'm off to find an apple slicer like yours.

Thnak you for the demo!! it was very useful for me to see how this unit is easy to clean. I will buy the 9000 though because I prefer to have all the parts stainless steel.

I just bought one of these online from Craigslist, only $30, it works, but wasn't expecting such a tiny "maw" to insert the produce. I had to scrunch up my leafy greens. This was my 1st time juicing--used a beet, 4 carrots, 2 cukes, 1 apple, some kale leaves, a bunch of spinach, a few cranberries & a bit of fresh ginger, made 2 big cupfuls of juice. The taste was okay--gotta get used to it--and was shocked to sip 1 cup of juice (I discovered you can't guzzle the stuff) only to find myself full afterwards--and I was very hungry beforehand. Very surprising. Poured the remaining juice in a mason jar for tomorrow's breakfast. Thanks for info about the filters (can I order online?), because cleaning the thing was a PAIN, also about running water through at the end. HOWEVER, the biggest challenge was that your juicer was well-behaved while mine tried to take off like a rocket ship; it was bouncing all over the place & I had to wrestle it while trying to insert the produce. What was going on? I almost don't want to use it again if it's going to fight me. Any suggestions? By the way, thanks for this video!

the taste was only "ok" and you can't guzzle it because that is an atrocious blend you made. hopefully with 2 years since you wrote this you already know that

looks like a good design for a centrifugal style juicer, I saw the 4000 on amazon but some reviews say the arms can break, is that so and do you sell replacement arms, do you have a link or code...thanks for the demo

I had a bruan (50 $ in the 70s or 80s) very similar to the omega 1000 and it was giving me moore juice than other machines. And it has a plastic filter for easy cleaning. For the price of the OMEGA 1000 or 9000 they should include this king of plastic filter.

i had this juicer in the early 90's, i thought it made decent carrot juice, way too much foam, too loud compared to my new nc 900, the newer nc900 makes a far better green juice, the 1000 clean up if completely disassembled is not that fast as she makes it sound, it does make carrot juice faster than the nc900, but as that basket starts to fill up with pulp the quality of juice starts to get weak after about 10 0unces so you have to stop the machine and scrape out pulp, this juicer i had started to collect dust after about 5 months because i got tired of all the foam, i gave it to a roommate to take with her when she moved out because i also had a acme juice rater which was almost identical, i really did not start juicing again until recently when i bought my omega nc900 which i like so much better, i also have a vitamix that i bought 6 years ago that i use to make smoothies and soup and sauces, but i want a juice everyday

You rinse it all after use, you don't have to put it through the dishwasher I think is the point. :)

I thought it was pretty obvious how to use this thing. My brother gave me one he had replaced with an upgraded version. He did however neglect to mention the need for paper filters or provide me with any. The quick, easy cleanup turned into a 30 minute minor ordeal. He's got some 'splainin' to do!

Thanks for the cleaning tip, but I have this juicer and it's a nightmare. It get unbalanced and starts dancing across the counter after every 4-6 oz. of juice.

This juicer can be used only for hard vegetables. I tried to make a pineapple juice and it was a nightmare. Juicer started shaking from the first load, then spinning around the countertop. Finally after struggle I made a glass of juice, but the pulp was so wet, like an apple sauce.
