One of the lesser known Genta’s designs. It’s interesting to see how the same core idea is reinterpreted over time.

I couldn’t agree more. And as you said, the core design of Genta basically stays the same, but changes from year to year. That's very exciting to watch!

What was the word you used for describing the bezel? You said a word which is “in between flat and fluted bezels”. Is that another style? Like guilloche?

You clearly have a good eye when it comes to strap selection. Something that could really make or break the appearance of any watch. Perhaps you could share some of the criteria you use in your selection process. Is it strictly an aesthetic exercise or does comfort, breathability etc play a role? Does texture play a role? What are the rules, if there are any? … Anyway, this is maybe too boring for an episode suggestion…
@GoldammerVintageWatches Жыл бұрын
Thanks a bunch mate! Interesting question here… In 99% it is an aesthetic decision, there are no rules or something else. We mainly pay attention to the material of the case and the color of the dial, then we have different straps with different colors and textures and just see what fits the best. No rocket science at all- just an aesthetic point of view :D

Hi There great video. Looking at minute 4.10 i noticed that I have the left one, a 168.009/168.017 gold but the crown seems not to be the correct one as it looks like the one of the .017 era, this is with more protusions and thicket. Do you think the original (slimmer with less protrusions) was replaced? or where there some of them with different crown?
@GoldammerVintageWatches3 ай бұрын
I think it’s the original crown 👑

Hey I enjoy your videos, you are right, vintage rocks. A couple of mispronounced words: guilloché is pronounced geeyoshé, and elegant is pronounced elegant with a hard g and not elejant.

I had a question, how suited are vintage watches for everyday wear? I've heard that they are fragile, is that true? How does the durability vary from the types of watches (chronograph, manual wind, automatic etc)? Thank you ! 🙂
@GoldammerVintageWatches Жыл бұрын
Vintage watches are just as wearable on a daily basis as modern ones. The only thing to watch out for, of course, is not to expose them to moisture or water in general. We have also made a full video on this ;) the durability of a watch has nothing to do with the type of complications or the type of movement. If a watch is well pleaded and brought every few years for inspection there are no differences there. Also for this we have uploaded a complete guide :D

Wow. This was an awesome video! My question is, did Omega copy the fluted bezel from Rolex??
@GoldammerVintageWatches Жыл бұрын
Thanks!! Omega was the copy cat in this case. To ensure better water resistance, Rolex developed a new technique: instead of pressing the Plexiglas in with great force, they wanted to screw it onto the case like the caseback. To do this, they first had to find a hold. This is where the fluted bezel comes into the game :D

C shaped sits awkwardly against the knuckle on the wrist. Looks great, feels awkward.
@GoldammerVintageWatches Жыл бұрын
Really?! So I've never had problems with the knuckles on the wrist, no matter what shape a case design has. Either my knuckles are excessively small or yours are too big? Haha :D
