@@TheCed5000 Certain brands in the US depending on the AD will sell below the advertised retail price. A few of them that you can always ask for a discount on are Omega, Breitling, and Tag Heuer. Omega Boutiques in the large cities will not discount but if you go to jewelry stores that sell more than one brand and are authorized dealers you can most always ask them to reduce the price and give you a deal because these brands are so available.

Totally with you. When I was told to get on a list for a CK859, I started looking at Zenith and Oris instead. I love the CK, but I'm not doing that shit. I went to Omega after the silliness at Rolex when I tried to get an Explorer a few years prior, and now I've gone elsewhere. If I want to buy a watch, I don't want to buy some other watch that I don't want first, I don't want to put down a monster deposit on a watch I have never even tried on, and I don't want to feel like I'm lucky that they "gave me the opportunity to buy." I bought my AquaTerra (my first major watch purchase) last year before the whole new range of colours were released. Primarily because of the aesthetics and the classic, unobtrusive subtle design, but also secondarily because Omega aren’t (or weren’t) playing the stupid Rolex games. I’m not “done” with Omega, and I love the Speedmaster and Seamaster designs, but my next watch will be a Grand Seiko, without a shadow of a doubt.

Was speaking to boutique about moonshine speedmaster which wasn’t in stock and no deposit is ever asked for. When 95% of the catalogue is readily available, you can’t moan about that 5% being harder to get or limited production, there has to be something ‘special’ about the brand and small % is exactly that.

@@mikecardwell9205 Anecdotally, I have friends who have been “on the list” for Snoopy and 321 Speedies since before COVID. They just keep getting the run around. Anyone paying attention to watches over the last 7-8 ish years has seen that Omega has very obviously wanted to do what Rolex has done, but just has not been able to pull it off. (Few can, of course, Patek, AP & Rolex as the main manufacturers). Omega’s “list” is every bit the same as what Rolex does, just on a lesser scale. This has been very obviously brewing inside Omega for years.
@mikecardwell9205
@mikecardwell9205 Жыл бұрын
@@brads1545 not the same what so ever. Omega had a few models that are waitlisted and they are still going through the list and getting the snoopys out there to people on the list. Rolex on the other hand have no intention of fulfilling orders that go onto the waitlist/prefer list. I know this first hand as I’ve been waiting 3 years for a Rolex but only 4 months for the omega. I know which brand I’ll be going back too.
@brads1545
@brads1545 Жыл бұрын
@@mikecardwell9205 Omega only has a few models that are waitlisted because they don’t have the clout to do what Patek, AP and Rolex do. But they are trying; hence, the 321 and Snoopy scarcity. If you “only” waited for 4 months for a watch that was NOT a 321 or Snoopy, it’s really irrelevant. What matters is Omega is trying to move towards the exclusivity model, and they are using their high leverage pieces to do it. You saying Omega is “getting the Snoopy’s out there” is the exact same as what Rolex is doing with its sports models. Speaking only for myself, I HAVE been able to get a blue/black GMT from Rolex, but I have NOT been able to get a Snoopy. So, in my experience, Omega is stingier with its waitlisted pieces than Rolex is with theirs. 🤷🏻‍♂️ YMMV.

Omega senior sales advisor here. To respond to your first critique about omegas availability. There is actually quite a simple answer to this. All of the pieces you showed on the video except for two (the snoopy and 321 speedmaster) are actually not on waitlist and are available to buy in store straight away. However here is the reason most people including you still think they are all waiting list pieces. See the thing is, most of the omega stores you see are actually not owned by omega and are authorized dealers and franchises ; for example, there is only 5 omega corporate boutiques in britain and they are all in london, every single omega store outside of these 5 are franchises and ADs . The problem is that unless you ask its basically impossible to distinguish between a corporate boutique and a franchise. So when you go to these franchises they usually never have the newest pieces because they do not have priority as the corporate boutiques do. So it takes way longer for them to receive new releases which is the reason why they create waiting lists for all these models and even take deposits as well, which we, at omega corporate do not. If you actually go to official omega corporate you can actually buy all of these new pieces straight away, and while we may not have them on display they are definitely in stock, we just dont display them because of the high demand. However i must make it clear that you can buy tgem, and if its not in stock today it might be in stock tomorrow. Now the reason the 2 speedmasters (snoopy and 321) are on waiting list is simply because of the incredible demand for it. As a reference i can confirm we get at least 20 daily requests to buy the snoopy, it would be simply impossible to mantain the supply for such high demand, and we receive these pieces once or twice every 6 months, hence the incredibly long waiting list for them. I hope this answers all your questions! Let me know if you have any other questions

A few things I would love from omega - thinner cases, better adjustable bracelets on things like Aqua Terra, maybe some recreation models e.g. 36mm Railmaster or any older thin Seamasters with solid case backs. I would love to see a heritage line which looks back in history. Too many modern pieces are chunky...a real shame Case in point. The Globemaster is stunning.... but make that 37mm, 10mm thin ... with modern upgrades... now that would be fantastic

36-37mm is too small for a man. Any able bodied male should have a forearm with enough muscle mass to handle a 40mm watch minimum.
@Valera_Scotland

@@bdegrds ha ha I assume you're just making a funny joke 🤣 I love my 42mm G shock... and equally love my 35mm Enicar. I'm 6ft and have 7.5 inch wrists... but it's nothing to do with that man! And it's not "manly" to have a large watch. To me, the watches I've tried on which have felt the best on wrist have pretty much ALWAYS been 35-37mm... usually vintage seamasters, date justs... things like that... but I do appreciate some bigger watches like the Titanium Seamaster on that lovely mesh, or my old Speedy 1861..... Each to their own man....I prefer the feel of watches that are sub 10mm thick and case sizes that aren't too massive...Nomos does this well .... despite the weird lugs I'm finding myself looking at vintage Omega and Seiko .... which is why my comment was about Omega recreating that era of elegance.... it would take serious skill to create a thin 36mm Seamaster.... that would be my dream watch
@Gawriify
@Gawriify Жыл бұрын
Well that would depend on the size of your wrist... 36mm would look like a toy on me..i wear 45.5mm seamaster and it fits me perfectly... but i do get it not everyone has huge wrists.. I am not sure i would agree with the solid case back comment... i love to see the movement. With the solid back what is the point of all those embellishments on it that noone will ever see? i might agree with you if we are talking about a quartz movement, but when it comes to automatic or full manual, i want to see the beautiful mechanism. Globemaster is not much far off your requirements, 39mm case with 20mm lug to lug and only 12.6mm thickness. I guess since it is a dress watch and if you have 2 inch wrist it will look a bit too big, but Constellation collection does have 36mm cases in it and they look much more modern to me compared to the Globemaster (i.e. bezels / dials and colors)
@Valera_Scotland
@Valera_Scotland Жыл бұрын
@@Gawriify well said. I disagree a little bit that it's to do with wrist size though. I think it's taste, and what feels comfortable... also I'm not saying that I only like small watches. I just prefer them for their subtle elegance ... its a totally different experience to wear a massive Seamaster compared to a little 36mm Explorer for example... both options are great in my mind, but practically I would prefer a small watch as a daily wear Regarding case backs, I do agree a little. I used to have a first gen Aqua Terra, and did enjoy seeing the movement... but for a daily watch I like things simple. The Rolex OP, Railmaster with that stunning engraved case back....I prefer the look of a metal case back in most watches

@@bdegrds You do realize that on your wrist there is usually not as much muscle mass as on other parts of your arm. But I get your point. However, also 36/37/38/39mm watches do look good on an male’s wrist as well.

This is a true story. A pro-Omega commenter being derisive or attacking another brand is just over half as likely as a pro-Rolex commenter being derisive towards Omega as a brand. A "Rolex Fanboy" is twice as likely as an "Omega Fanboy" to include personal "ad-hominem" attacks in their comments. (IE "people who like X are awful and smelly.") I looked at hundreds of comments on creators’ videos, specifically ones who express a problem with "Fanboys." I am a nerd, but I was curious about why my experience in the comments section didn't align with the kinds of things that KZfaqrs say. I definitely encourage anybody to double-check my work. At first, I was really confused about why your perception would be so different from what is really happening down here. Then I watched a video from another KZfaqr who I really like. Talking Timepieces with Tony - "A drink and a rant! Ignorant comment from an Omega troll. Rolex haters." This video made the answer totally clear. I believe that you own Omegas, you respect Omega as a brand, and you might even like Omega. But, either openly or deep down in your heart, you prefer Rolex. Maybe Rolex is just objectively better, and that's why even the KZfaqrs who make videos titled "why Omega is better than Rolex" still actually prefer and would rather wear Rolex, but it is my belief that the reason why Omega fans are uniquely irritating to you, is because you see their disagreement with your personal opinion as a personal attack.

Adrian, I fully agree. I have never understood what Rolex is doing by creating waiting lists for potential buyers for, lets face it, watches, design-wise, which most of them have been around for years. There are many watch manufacturers who were in the same league in the early days with the Rolex price/quality and still are available for a fraction of the Rolex price for that same vintage watch today. With all respect it is an impressive Rolex marketing strategy which resulted bringing them to the elite level where they are to date. For me personally I believe there are many more "bang for buck" watches on the market than Rolex and surely Omega was one of them. It is very disappointing to see they are trying to follow the Rolex marketing philosophy. Surely will not follow this craziness as luckily there are many other established watch brands who are working so hard by creating great revolutionary watch designs with no long waiting lists and extreme pricing. Not forgetting to mention certain micro brands as well.

The unfortunate reality (whether we like it or not) is that if there's a place in the market for a second Rolex, with all the wait-list hype factor that comes with Rolex. I can see why Omega would want to fill that gap. Rolex's waitlist pushes desirability. When people can just walk in and pick the piece they want, it's no longer as exciting as 'working' for it. Then the plums feel like they've earned it. Human beings are complex beings indeed. We want to create problems just so we can feel good when solving them.
