Omega Railmaster 57: Their Most Underrated, Classy & Best Value Watch
Today I get to grips with a watch I’ve always had a soft spot for, but simply haven’t had time to experience, due to my love for the similarly styled and beloved Rolex Explorer.
Thanks to WatchBox, that has all changed! In this video I embark on a weekend long adventure, getting to know and review the highly underrated Omega Railmaster, but make no mistake - this is no ordinary Railmaster! This is the special 60th anniversary version, released in 2017 as part of a trilogy to commemorate the iconic original 1957 trio that changed the world of watches forever.
To mark this auspicious occasion, I decided to test out the watch at a host of legendary attractions in the amazing city of Philadelphia. To start, we enjoy the stunning views from the observation deck on the 57th floor at One Liberty Place. Then we’re off to brunch at Oyster House (one my favorite restaurants!) followed by a tour of the historic Eastern State Penitentiary. To finish the day’s proceedings in style, we conclude with cocktails at the trendy rooftop bar Assembly to test its water resistance and ours! So join me for a special day of fun, travel, history, luxury watches, and more in another Urban Gentry adventure I’ll never forget!

I saw/tried on both this reissue Railmaster and the regular Railmaster at an AD. I was quite surprised by how "shiny" the reissue was in real life (polished surfaces everywhere including the hands). To my surprise I much preferred the regular production model of the Railmaster. Which is a watch that is all about its tool-look with exclusively brushed surfaces and a more robust utilitarian look to it.

This is in my opinion one of the Gentry's best watch reviews. There are all the tech infos, pros and cons and all this, but this time TGV takes a lot of time have us spend a day with him and the watch, with a lot of wristshots of different t angles and situations. Very cool.

I was digging this watch when I first saw it, then I moved on because it’s out my reach for now. I fell for the seiko sbdc105 for a while but luckily never purchased. I think I’m just going to save up and get this watch upon retirement for myself. Truly a grail

My goodness, I always loved this watch and would have considered this my grail watch. I never seen one in person, but your presentation of this watch has painted a picture of it beyond anything I had experienced before and I would have to say has stoked my lust for this elegant piece. This has been my favorite episode of the Urban Gentry. I had to watch it there times....so far. I also was completely fascinated by the local of Eastern State Penitentiary. Well done TGV.

I like the restraint of that Omaga model. The fake patina or pre-distressed look is actually done well. I don't mind the non-taper of the bracelet either. I do wish that the clasp was a hair lower profile. It seems just a touch out of scale to my eye. I'd still wear it proudly if it were mine. Well presented by you.(as always) p.s. I know isn't impossible to run out of Philly subjects...but I'd be interested in your take on Gamble&Huff someday.

I've inspected the Trilogy several times at the Omega Boutique in Zurich.... I too prefer the Railmaster the most of the three, but I only wish it had a screw-in crown. Great review, TGV. a couple corrections: The clasp micro adjust has 3 (not 2) positions and the lug width is 19mm, not 18. I agree about your negatives, especially about the non-tapered bracelet and how a smaller version would be nice....however, this is an exact duplicate of the original CK2914 and therefore has all the same measurements. 2 more negatives is that I wish the dial color was just slightly darker and I wish the hands were slightly sanitized because the high polished hands disappear at certain angles making it a bit hard to read the time.

A very beautiful watch, although I'd rather have the baume et Mercier baumatic, the new one with five day automatic completely in house Swiss made movement that's also anti magnetic to 15,000 Gauss for a modest price of around two grand, and around three Grand for the chronometer version. Oh, also has a date complication, lol. However, that's just my own opinion but I guess to each their own.

Excellent video. I'm really annoyed by the prevalence of magnets these days. Women's handbags use magnetic fastenings, and the worst one is the Fitbit which uses a strong magnet to attach the charging cable! I won't go near my Seamaster whilst wearing my Fitbit, even though it has extra protection against magnetism.

"Old Radium" lume is pleasant at first glance but the more and more I look at a watch with patina'd markers the less and less I like it. A concern for "authenticity" and "realness" hasn't quite reached the horological world.
