Great interview with Brandon! I love GS, but man, why do they lack micro-adjustments in many instances? Omega Aqua Terra, too! Fit & comfort makes up about half of why I buy & wear a watch.

Where did you find the strap to fit the 21mm slot for the Winter? I anticipate changing the bracelet to a leather strap when mine arrives but it looks like GS does 20, 22 width straps, but not 21 as best I can tell.

Thanks Max and Brandon for a great discussion. I might challenge the "GS *vs* Omega"...how about GS *and* Omega? 👍⌚😎🦁♎

Hey, I seen that guy when he had a small personal channel. Shame he went to Hodinkee kinda. But good for him! He deserves it because his content, style and relaxed take on things was awesome.

Both brands are far too thick in general. The new tentagraph feels like an ultra deep on wrist.

I like omega over grand Seiko in most cases… I know it’s preference, but I’ve been collecting for quite a while, and I’ve owned both brands… One area where I feel that grand Seiko always falls down is when it comes to the bracelets-clasps. Thanks for the great video.!
@WatchCrunchOfficial11 ай бұрын
Yep, I think GS is working on it, but still needs more work on the bracelets

I personally see GS as the Japanese JLC. Offering great value but high end finishing (above their price range at least). But as usual great video:)

A view from the UK. As you will know from my post i watched your interview with Marshall from WR so i thought i'd peruse your channel and found this vid. Just to say that Seiko here in the UK is a "High Street" brand and would be on very few lists of watches people looking for a watch over $5000 would have. This is Seiko trying to do a version of what Toyota tries to do with the Lexus, or Nissan with it's Infinity range. No, we see right through you. Re-branding your product to increase the bottom line. BTW., the "springdrive" is seen here as just a quartz watch. Anything with a crystal and a rechargeable battery - sorry an "accumulator" that is charged with a micro generator in the watch is classed as a quartz watch. All they have done is what the Japanese are good at and that is miniaturising everything.

Both brands are great to be fair. My one watch is Omega 2503.50.00 but would love a GS some day

@@WatchCrunchOfficial me too. I wish they went back to the old dimensions. My one wears so well on natos because it's only 11mm thick

Omega's prices have really turned me off the brand $9000 CAD for a new 38mm Aqua Terra is ridiculous.

I would support Omega in this street fight as I would like to accept the seamaster diver 300 and speedmaster pro more than GS sports watches. I also think a dress watch is not as useful as a combat watch or a diver watch. GS may be excellent at dress watch but may not be the best watch in combat watch or diver watch.

Haha, yes sir 😁

GS actually has more more GADA sport watches than Omega. Omega has the Aqua-Terra and ? GS has more than 10 models that fit that criteria. GS doesn’t really have as many dress models. GS is good at making any watch. I love both as I own both but to say they don’t make a good GADA or sport watch is way off base. Actually you can flip that narrative on its head.

Someone pls lmk if i am wrong in any of this info i got from another video, but omega honestly seems overpriced and unattractive to me now. the video pointed out that seamaster was just omegas response to the rolex sub, nasa never collab-ed with omega for the “moon” watch (wasn’t designed to go onto the moon but it passed the tests), and the original James Bond was a rolex so why did they change to omega? am i wrong and is there anything else i should know about omegas history?

Grand Seiko's new dual impulse escapement is one of those innovations that should have been really impressive, until I properly looked at it and realized it's just a half implemented co-axial. Essentially, it's co-axial in one direction and friction lever in the other, so it has the additional complexity and maintenance difficulty of co-axial, but still has the problems that co-axial was intended to solve. For a company famous for advancing watchmaking technology, it just seems like innovation for its own sake, which is disappointing. Spring Drive is where GS really shows their ability to innovate. They just need to do better with bracelets and size options.

I own both brands, Grand Seiko (9SA5) is unfortunately not the most accurate movement. None of my Omegas have disappointed me like this. Great looks but…

Nothing personal Brandon, but you joining Hodinkee after Jack’s departure looked more like a desperate attempt from the ‘Dink to look cool. Without knowing the financial details, but only from a watch content consumer, you were more relevant as an enthusiast than as a semi-journalist
