Omega introduced 4 Constellation models between 1957 and 1958 with the calendar feature. They are known to be the first generation Constellation with the date feature, with only 25,000 pieces produced, making them one of the rarest Constellations to encounter and add to your collection.

Your videos are very informative and well done, thank you! This video helped me confirm that the watch I bought for myself for my 40th bday about a decade ago for 400 USD is a 1958 Rose Gold Capped KO 2943.

Just installed the 1502 beads of rice onto my mid 50’s 2849 Seamaster Calender. It looks fabulous and is way comfortable. My watch and band are gold capped. The markers appear gold and are arrowhead shaped except the 12,3,6,9 are fatter with an indent in the middle instead of a ridge. lume dots at the outer base of each but they do not work anymore. I am waiting for my horologist to return from holiday to have it serviced. I think it will have the 503 movement. Very solid in keeping time though so far for just under 70 years old.

Excellent video. Thank you. I have a stainless steel black face Constellation Calendar which I inherited from my father. I believe that he purchased it in Aden. It has the calibre 504 movement. The case back is 2852 8 SC. I managed to find the original red box for it. The face shows some minor corrosion. However, I wouldn’t have it restored. My local Omega agent sent it to Omega for me to repaired when there was a problem with the winding mechanism. I asked if they could clean the hands which were quite tarnished. Sadly they replaced them instead.Although they returned the originals. I also have the original Beads of Rice bracelet. Although that is very worn & I have fitted a modern replace for security when I wear it. I note that the CHRONOMETRE is spelt the French way. Maybe that was because it wasn’t intended for the UK or US markets ? If you have any information that might be of interest with my particular Constellation Calendar I would be very interested.

Thank you for your message. Before I can answer your question and respond back accordingly. Are you sure that the case back is 2852? Because 2852 is a center second model without the calendar feature. It only comes with a calibre 501 or 505. I made several videos about 2852.

Magnificent pieces that show the aesthetic style of the time & just how advanced Omega were during these decades. A must have for any serious collector i'm sure. Thanks Derek! Very informative as usual. Happy New Year (western style).

Haha, "western style." I am Asian but Canadian as well. So I do celebrate the Global and Lunar New Year. 😉 The 1940s and 1950s Omega watches are definitely my favourites! Sometimes people are afraid to own a watch from 60+ years ago, but I tell you the quality of these vintage omegas are top-notch and can be worn daily. Happy New Year to you and your family, Peter. Best wishes.

@@TimelessHistoryChannel Thank you for your kind words. I wish you & your family a wonderful, happy & prosperous 2023 Derek. If I can afford it this year, I will buy a vintage watch from you. Of course, this depends on if I can recover the 88% downturn in my investments income. Can you guide me as to which has the best water resistance as a G.A.D.A. watch?

You're welcome, and Happy New Year to you as well. Please take your time to select a piece, DO NOT RUSH, and there will always be excellent watches to buy. I am sorry to hear about your investments; unfortunately, many people were affected late last year. Let's hope it will recover a bit later this year. :-) It is not recommended that you swim or shower with your vintage watch. But if you're worried that moisture might get inside your watch, even outside in the rain or washing your hands, it is best to look for one that carries a fresh case gasket with a properly fitting crystal. After working on thousands of vintage watches, I can assure you that 95% of the time, I need to replace the crystal, and 100% of the time replace the gasket. So I feel that many watchmakers don't bother to replace them for whatever reasons. Whenever you're ready, go through my website, pick out 2-4 of your favourite pieces, and let me know their item numbers. I'll go through each piece and let you know my opinion to help you narrow it down to that one piece. For me to pick, a watch for you is no fun. It's like arranged marriage but with a watch. Everyone's taste differs. :-D

Hi, thank you for this really interesting video. I am looking to buy a KO 2943 and this was really helpful. Just to check, all the medallions on these early constellations are made of solid gold?

Hello @TimelessHistoryChannel , thank you for the great video. I found your channel while researching my grandfather's constellation that was recently passed down to me. Its is an all stainless steel case with a screw on case back and a cal. 504 movement with beads of rice bracelet. The top of dial face has the omega symbol and bellow the words omega automatic chronometer officially certified. Bottom has the words constellation calendar, a sliver star and swiss made at the 6 position. Inner case back has the numbers 14747-1. Is there an email address i can send pictures to? I am hoping for your help with any info as I intend on restoring it to as close to original as possible. It is missing the winding stem and winding crown, there is a 2mm tube where the crown should be, what would be the correct crown for this model be? Also its crystal which has a magnifier over the date window is in rough shape, would you happen to know the correct size of crystal for this case? Is it the same as the 2945 models? Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.

Thank you for the message. Sorry for the delay as I have taken several months off this platform. Unfortunately, I have stopped repairing for customers since 2015. I only have time to work on the pieces I sell and sold on my website. However, you can copy your message and ask on the Omega forums. I am sure a specialist will be able to assist or refer you to a reliable watchmaker. All the best.

I inherited the OT 2954 model and I'm not sure if I should keep it or sell it. Are these vintage watches appreciating in value, generally speaking?
@TimelessHistoryChannel
@TimelessHistoryChannel 4 ай бұрын
Yes they are. But it all depends on their condition. Make sure the dial and case are untouched. Meaning the dial is not refinished and the case is unpolished
