Evandrin was his husband, Elias is his son. He's saying that he met Evandrin (and Elias) when Elias was just a baby.

Yes, the primordials are the elemental titans who originally inhabited Exandria before the gods arrived. The Lord of the Hells’ point is that the gods were invited to stay on Exandria by the Titans, but they overstayed their welcome creating mortals and giving them access to divine magic, so when the Titans decided that the mortals had to go, the “betrayers” agreed with them. So, The Lord of the Hells is arguing that they didn’t betray anyone. They were there by the grace of the Titans, and the “betrayers” were just following their rules

@43:53 The verbiage is a bit ambiguous: “I have a son (Elias) that is not of my blood, but he (Elias) is my son. I met Evandrin when he (Elias) was just an infant and I held that boy in my arms and I fell in love with him and I am his father”

a dirty twenty is a twenty total, people started saying dirty twenty so nobody gets excited thinking it was a nat 20 basically

expanding mechanically a little bit: "natural" 20's only count officially in attack rolls, where they're an automatic hit and do critical damage. for everything else (skill checks, saving throws, stat checks), the end result depends on the total of the roll and any modifiers. that said, many DMs (Brennan and Aabria included) will "honor" a nat 20 if the roll is sufficiently awesome (or dumb).

I agree with meghans comment, the journey through with fresh eyes has been revitalizing my love of critical role, Brennan, and D&D in general. Been watching your channel since vox and have been loving it ever since. Youre the bomb and keep it up

a note about karwen - brennan mentioned that her aura was just a bit celestial (due to her being an oracle), and the fiendish aura came only from the water, so she's probably not possessed at the moment at least!

Your comparison of Betrayer Gods to "nice guys" is so hilarious and accurate at the same time.

the Nice Guy to Primordial Betrayer pipeline is real.

A natural 20 is a critical success, which always succeeds regardless of modifiers (technically only applies to attack rolls and doubles the damage, but a lot of people will at least take it into account for skill checks). Dirty 20 is a 20 total, after modifiers, meaning you can roll a 5, but still get a 20 with a +15 modifier. This is not as good as a nat 20, so people use dirty 20 to clarify that it’s not natural.

48:55 this isn't a huge spoiler because of the Calamity thing but anyway spoiler in "present day" Exandria there's a collection of islands called the Shattered Teeth. Domunas was called the Smile and it was one big continent. suffice to say shit happened.

1 - The Lord of Hells = The self-proclaimed Father of Bullshit (better to keep that in mind). In D&D universe he has a name Asmodeus, you can use that name for simplicity sake, but in Exandria (or Critical Role at general) they use different names\titles, because of copyright reasons. 2 - Domunas as a continent, as I semi-spoiled in comments episodes ago, is not mentioned in Vox Machina or first Campaigns of Critical Role. You can look up the map of Exandria, you will not find any 'smile', but you will find a number of islands - they called The Shattered Teeth. In other situation it would be a spoiler, but players know about it, and so should you. Again, it's a different kind of story, we already know that Jedi Order is going to fall, we just a few hours away from Order 66, if get what I mean. 3 - Xerxus = absolute 'I CAN FIX HIM' energy.

Oooooh, I've been waiting for this installment 😝 So the gods all came to exandria at the same time, with the technical exception of the Raven Queen, but the previous god of death would have come with the rest as well. The lord of the hells is not a newer god. What he was saying about being "late to the table" was probably more in reference to like the gods meeting up to decide their domains and what they’re each going to contribute to their group project (aka shaping exandria, creating mortals, inventing idealogical concepts etc etc).

turning the King of Hells and Lord of Lies into an incel, lolllll wanted to go back to Calamity anyway now that Downfall is releasing, it's so interesting to see it from the perspective of someone with fresh eyes.

The Betrayer Gods as nice guys is really funny.😂 However if I can be Asmodeus' advocate for a second... Lol He created all those "gifts" literally at the same time mortal life itself was being created. Let's be philosophical about this. How do we recognize that lying is bad? We first recognize it after experiencing it, typically at very young ages. We typically rely on an adult to explain it to us the way they explain everything to us. Because they have ALSO experienced it. But when lies have never existed before... and mortal life has never existed before... how could Asmodeus truly hope to understand what the actual effects of lies on mortals would be? It is entirely possible that in the beginning he was truly a nice guy before he became a "nice guy". 😂 Also I am SOOO behind on your calamity videos. I've been working my ass off lately and need to catch up.
