@@soyyo4154 I assume you are of course being sarcastic. It was named Mtv and had the words Music Television under it because it was made for Music Videos starting in 1979 and on through the 80's. The first music video to air on it was Video killed the Radio star by the Buggles in 1979 a fitting song topic in the lyrics for a band with a new age Music Video out on Mtv rather than just on Radio airplay.

Ah, one of the quintissential 80's videos! This is the kind of thing MTV was made for, back when it was ALL music videos ALL the time. It's totally ironic, though - notice how he says "she's anything but typical", and yet all the girls behind him look exactly alike! ("Addicted to Love" was his other really huge hit, also populated by those identical girls.)

"Addicted to Love" I'd read was voted 3rd most popular Music Video of the '80's (And "Simply Irresistible" close). The article didn't say what the top2 were, but must be MJ's "Thriller" and "Beat It or "Billie Jean." On the "anything but typical" line, the girls look -nearly identical, yes, but not in a way one sees anywhere else; plus there's more than looks of course. I was surprised India didn't get that the model wasn't really playing the guitar (look at those nails!...) Glad she liked it a lot.

India, Robert Palmer did a interview after his big album. He said the models were hired for the videos to try something ... more exotic, more appealing. He said they didn't play, just looked good.

Ol' Robert was a cool and classy one, India! Mr. Smooth in person. Gone too soon.

For the main shot showing Robert singing with the lines of women dancing behind. Saw a comment from one of them said she kept getting in trouble. They were suppose to 'ignore' him and look disinterested and distant. But she kept checking him out from behind, she said he has looking good and just keep looking back at him.
