Thank you so much for that video❤ I've been to Portland just before Covid (I'm from Switzerland), and haven't been able to get back there ever since (and probably won't be for some time😣). And it's been my *favourite city* ever since, with awesome people all around, and I can't wait to get back there😍 So it's a rare treat to be able to experience Portland again thanks to you - thanks & cheers😘 Btw: those Streetcars look almost like here in Switzerland, we basically got those in every city. We just call them "Trams" instead of "Streetcars"😉.
@pacmanc8103
@pacmanc8103 6 күн бұрын
Actually, those weren’t streetcars in the video. This is the Metro Area Express, or MAX, light rail system that goes the 4 directions from downtown to the city’s suburbs and the light-rail trains travel very fast. The streetcars are what we call the small single car trains that run throughout the downtown, the Lloyd District, Inner Southeast, and the South Waterfront. At the South Waterfront, the streetcar has a stop at the “aerial tram”, which is suspended on wires from towers and takes patients/students/staff, etc. up to the Oregon Heath and Sciences University.

The camera you use also provides a nice quality view of the scenery, what is it that you use? I look forward to your next video.

@jeffreywang7665

Snow can potentially make it safer for pedestrians in terms of vehicles approaching in several ways:Reduced Speed: Snow-covered roads can lead to decreased driving speeds as vehicles must navigate slippery conditions. Slower speeds give drivers more time to react to pedestrians and other hazards on the road, reducing the risk of accidents.Increased Visibility: Fresh snow can create contrast against the road surface, making pedestrians more visible to drivers, especially during daylight hours. This increased visibility can help drivers spot pedestrians from a distance and adjust their speed accordingly.Quieter Roads: In areas experiencing heavy snowfall, vehicle traffic may decrease as people choose to stay home or use alternative transportation methods. Quieter roads can make it easier for drivers to hear and see pedestrians, reducing the likelihood of accidents.Clearing of Snow: Municipalities often prioritize clearing snow from roads and pedestrian walkways to improve safety for all road users. Clear roads and sidewalks provide better traction for vehicles and pedestrians alike, reducing the risk of accidents caused by slippery conditions.Awareness of Hazardous Conditions: Snowy weather conditions serve as a reminder for drivers to exercise caution and adjust their driving behavior accordingly. Drivers are more likely to be mindful of potential hazards, including pedestrians, when driving in snowy conditions.While snow can potentially improve safety for pedestrians in terms of vehicles approaching, it's important for pedestrians to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines, such as using designated crosswalks, making eye contact with drivers before crossing, and wearing reflective clothing or accessories to increase visibility, especially during periods of reduced daylight or visibility.
@jeffreywang7665
@jeffreywang7665 4 ай бұрын
It is generally harder for pedestrians to get hit by vehicles during a snowstorm for several reasons:Reduced Visibility: Snowstorms often reduce visibility for both drivers and pedestrians. In such conditions, drivers are more likely to drive at slower speeds and be more cautious, reducing the likelihood of accidents involving pedestrians.Decreased Traffic Volume: Snowstorms often lead to fewer vehicles on the road as people choose to stay home or limit their travel. With fewer vehicles on the road, there are fewer opportunities for accidents involving pedestrians.Slower Driving Speeds: Snow and icy conditions typically necessitate slower driving speeds. Drivers tend to be more aware of the need for caution and may drive at speeds that allow them to react more quickly to pedestrians and other potential hazards.Increased Awareness: In adverse weather conditions like snowstorms, both drivers and pedestrians are generally more aware of the potential dangers and take extra precautions to stay safe. Pedestrians may be more cautious when crossing roads, and drivers may be more vigilant in watching for pedestrians.While it's still important for pedestrians to be cautious and aware of their surroundings during a snowstorm, the combination of reduced visibility, decreased traffic volume, slower driving speeds, and increased awareness among both pedestrians and drivers can make it less likely for pedestrians to get hit by vehicles.

@@VvvnimaL bruh I literally live in Portland and that’s bullshit. I take it you never come into town, right? all the problems you hate with our city you can just equate to your own country, like homelessness and political unrest. The propaganda about this city works so well i’d love to see you go somewhere actually scary like Detroit and the bad parts of LA, or worse a poor country with a high population meaning higher amount of crime, i know, terrifying to grasp. if you really think Portland is the worst of the worst, you’ve never been outside of your bedroom.
@mattropolis99
@mattropolis99 10 ай бұрын
@@_G4.R4_Do YOU come downtown? I live here in downtown Portland and travel a good bit for work. I'm tired of people saying that these problems are the same elsewhere. That's garbage. The fact is they are provably much worse in Portland. Portland's overall population has shrunk by 3% since 2020-2023 - the 6th fastest shrinking city in the US. Murder rates have gone up 4x - mostly due to shootings since we disbanded the gang task force. Oregon itself is seeing a population decline since 2020. Downtowns in other major cities don't have at least one boarded up window per block from a break-in. Measure 110 that legalized drugs has created countless open air drug markets downtown - especially near 4th and Washington - as well as a dramatic spike in drug deaths. The Max and public transit has seen a massive uptick in violence the last few years - including a guy just last week that got his throat slit just waiting for the train. The criminal had been arrested earlier in the day and released. Our DA Schmidt is a friggen joke and his lack of prosecution for 'restorative justice' has lead to repeat violent offenders getting let go and has gotten people killed again and again - including a mom who's ex was arrested, released, and murdered her right after. Street racing is rampant. Target, Walmart, Green Zebra, Cracker Barrel, and other major retailers announced pulling their stores out of Portland in 2023. These are Portland problems backed by crime data, not propaganda.

Such a nice walk through the city. I have some friends that live in Portland and love it despite the crazy reputation. I can never see Portland without thinking of Portlandia! 😂 This is what I love about channels like this, we get to see that places we hear so much about aren’t all crazy all the time. Looks like the night this was filmed all the right-wing terror groups decided to spend their welfare money on food instead of bullets. How marvelous. 🥰
