I hope Ben, Anastasia or their Mum will pop on here and leave a msg as to how they are doing. This was filmed in 2016 so i'd love to know if he managed to get his licence as he will be 20 years old now. I see the flight school near Worksop has since closed but I hope he has done well. A man I used to babysit when he was little got his pilot's licence at Tollerton which is a different airfield. He was crazy about flying and then went on to get his commercial licence which saw him flying London to Edinburgh and reverse each day for a company called Flybe and hadn't been there long when they entered administration but thankfully he has managed to find work as an instructor.

Not much wonder those poor kids lash out, it’s terrible that these families are thrown from pillar to post, it’s enough to make anyone angry. As for Ben, what an inspiration he is to young people, I wonder how his class mates that bullied him in school feel now seeing him flying a plane at 12 years old? I really hope that he gets all the help & support he needs to get his pilot license. Well done Ben! 🤗❤xx

where I live all the gypsies are liars and thieves unfortunately :( sad, cuz I think they have a pretty cool way of life, but so many of them ARE vile thieving a-holes :( we used to have to kick them out of my work cuz they'd find leftover drinks, pour them on the floor (creating a safety hazard) and then claim the dropped their drink and try to demand a free one, and come up to the counter saying they were waiting on loads of meals but we all knew none of them had ordered anything. we'd checked the tills anyway just to be sure and right enough, those orders didn't exist. it's a shame for the nice ones but you can't blame people for being skeptical when we have so many negative encounters

This is a real question from a naive American, idk much about gypsies in the UK. I think here in the USA though, Gypsy is a derogatory word. Anyway, my question is, do they pay to live on this land? I assume not. If no, couldn't they just go to a camp ground and pay there? I guess the only problem I have is some of the ones always getting evicted are parking illegally and tapping into electricity illegally, etc. Why do they think they can just stay if they don't pay? And again, that's my assumption from what I see here. Sorry if it sounds rude, I don't mean it to.

2016?I sure would like a update on them in 2024-I’m so saddened that these poor kids are being bullied, forced out of the schools, families being evicted-the police taking the traitors and arresting that guy just makes it harder for them-band that poor Momma in the hospital and her home being taken from her is just heartless.so much empty land, why can’t they just take acres and let them live there-as long as they are keeping it clean,no trash and working I just don’t agree the anger towards travelers,I’ve watched so many of these shows and hearing it from the kids is just so sad-no one should be judged for the beliefs they have and the way they choose to live

@nomadic_orthodox

@@LexiLaughs All of them. I’m not from the UK, so I have not lived with any kind of travellers. But I’m very much familiar with Sinti and Roma, they’re hated for leaving behind nothing but destruction, rubbish and scammed people. But that doesn’t change the fact that someone from this community, who’s different, shouldn’t be treated differently. Now his classmates and 9 schools have pushed him back in the traveller life they’ve bullied him for in the first place, which is stupid. Wasn’t it in this episode where a father said he wants his daughters to be educated? I respect that.

@@nomadic_orthodox all of them is still very broad considering there are difference's. Roma generally refers to the European born and living outside uk and Romani are English although decent from the same original ethnic group, that was a very long time ago about a thousand years ago they left Indiana and are now quite different in many ways to Romani (or Romany) who mostly don't actually travel anymore so what are they "leaving behind"? and although I don't condone bad behaviour but they were kept as slaves for 500 years and tortured and killed in the hundreds of thousands they have a horrific history and to this day are still treated terribly prob would make you a little reluctant to give respect back maybe! so where are you from? might clarify which particular culture of Nomadic you are talking about

This type of discrimination gives such “classy if you’re rich, trashy if you’re poor”. Taking kids out of school, raising farm animals, eating your own fresh produce, travelling round the country/living in a mobile home. Free range kids & similar parenting styles is literally a Tik tok trend where wealthy families don’t put their kids in school, travel around, live in usually camper vans (arguably a lot worse than a trailer or mobile home) live like gypsies and travellers. Yet no discrimination for them. Usually because they are wealthy. It’s ridiculous. These kids are living like it’s 2003 which was RARE in 2016 and practically UNHEARD OF nowadays. You may not agree with their customs but they seem happy, head screwed on, having fun, going out, doing things instead of most of us sat watching them on a screen after working all day, all week for someone else.

@christieconques1221 because they are not homeless families. They may not all live in houses but they all have HOMES. The reason they are hated like they are is because sometimes they will dump rubbish and defecate etc on the land they take over. They are often closed off from other parts of the community and feared, they can be quite intimidating en masse. Some people say they are thieves and dishonest. I have worked with travellers and looked after travellers and I have never found them as people to be any different to anyone else really, I suppose the most I would say is that they are " old fashioned " in some ways, they can be very homophonic, but again, not everyone. I think the only time I felt intimidated was when I went for a meal in a pub and the whole place was travellers watching the horse racing, there were about 50-60 of them, but I would have felt the same if it was 50-60 non traveller football fans

Bullying and putting gasoline with until matches under someone’s trailer!!! Those people need to be charged with assault, harassment, that’s a hate crime!!! Stuff like that needs to be set in place for these people’s well being!!! If people don’t want them to park on private properties why not give them low cost or free caravan parking in a designated area!! There’s so many options that can be made instead of treating these people so horribly!!!

No use going around bullying to get your own way. There will always be someone else that will be bigger, harder , or more intelligent. Handsome, Beautiful ect..

I find it odd that that boy has been bullied 10 times at different schools. At some point, he needs to front it out - or is he the protagonist?

nope, I've dealt with the same issues done nothing and got surrounded and punched up by 5+ people each time I'm bullied in DIFFERENT schools... messed up world, gotta get through it some how, luckily I'm a dropout but a somewhat successful music artist.

Why can’t they make safe sites for them. In Canada we have lots of legal trailer parks. This is inhumane. I feel for these people

No one wants to be threatened or abused. Especially vulnerable children and adults who think they are in good hands with the staff or people who know more than what they say depending on the overall plan! Yes or No?!

@@lailahepburnandmischka your probably right. That's why ppl don't want them on their land bc they don't keep the area they park in clean. Plus they use the bathroom outside and in the summer time that smell would be unbearable. It's crazy they have all those kids crammed into one little trailer that's no kind of life for children. To me they are very selfish for that.

Being different should be their superpower not curse. Being a traveller means being proud of your tradition yet trying your best to intergrate and not being viewed as outcasts.. Hatred towards them isnt because of ethnicity it's because of envy. Life in mainstream society isn't easy .. And life as a traveller is an easy either. So no need for hatred. It's a deadly disease which shouldn't be allowed to fester.. Living as we should be is now frowned upon..Religions may fall apart but this way of life will never stop to be. All the best to Ben. Being able to learn to fly a plane is one of the greatest privileges you can have as being human let a traveller.

Bens, families traveller site is absolutely immaculate! For the sake of the children local governments should allocate land for travellers to settle permanently. Children need security, the cycle needs to be broken.

Why can’t the UK have campgrounds like the USA? You pay to stay by the night, and must move every two weeks. Within the campground. It’s legal and a safe place to stay.
