I had the chance to work as a production assistant on a few rocafella projects in the early 2000's and I can say out of all the Roc artists, Omilio was the coolest, always showed me love and greeted me with respect. This is unfortunate, because if anyone deserved millions, it was him.

Yeah. He was trying to get an I'll hook for his song for the dude he paid to make music. Y'all do understand that ROC was started and ran by Jay, bigs and Dame right? They paid these people. Y'all gotta understand that labels give you everything except your lyrics. You literally only gotta write then go in and record. You don't engineer, you don't mix, you don't produce, you don't do background vocals, you don't pay for the videos, you don't buy the beats, you don't do ANYTHING but record and make appearances.

One thing I don't like about business is some people can make a $100 million and won't give the people who helped a little cash just to let them know they appreciate it. I'm not saying give them half but at least give them a taste. The sad part is people think that's the right way to do business.

At the end of the day you being the centerpiece in which is making all the money you're gonna have most if not all knowledge of who did what especially if you asked for the song. That's why people get fucked! It's no common sense in business! Dam sure no love or loyalty! Just numbers! That's why people get fucked! thinking people will do the right thing out of love, respect or dignity! Money has no loyalty and business is the profession of money! Just like a marriage,go thinking iys all Love, then you find out that marriage is a business decision and you made the wrong move!! Always have a contract on everything you do!! Everybody saying its business. Just because its business don't mean its good business. Would you would want to work on a label where the artist is the CEO without your best interest? Someone who cared for you would let you peep game. When Omillio starting peeping game about his paper he started having arguments with Dame. The lox battled for over 10 years with Puff to get theirs. He was still making money off them when they went over to Ruff Ryders.

People got to understand, just because you have talent dont mean you are business savvy. These guys were street dudes trying to get out the hood. They had the talent all they needed was a shot. They didn't know anything about the music business, they just wanted to rap and make music. You live and you learn. I respect this dude for taking the punch and keeping it moving. Sometimes getting burned teaches you a lesson so it doesn't happen again. This is a business, it's not a game.

What people must realize is that in order for you to get to a level like Jay Z is on, you have to step on people's necks! I'm not condoning that but that's just the way it is! Why do you think him and Beyonce click? Beyonce stepped on the necks of the 2 original Des Chi members so she could be the main attraction! They are one in the same! that's how the music business works..it's cut throat..all the top people keep the money and the artist is the last to get paid..and the artist doesn't even get money..they usually get material compensation..(an expensive car/chain/clothes..etc)...especially with hip hop artists.

Jay Z did dirty business, it’s like he wasn’t trying to put people on but once they got a buzz he was trying to take their buzz for himself. Camron tells the story of Jay Z just throwing a verse on “Oh Boy” without clearing anything by anyone and Cam got rid of it because Jay Z got rid of Cam’s verse on a Peedi Crakk track. Jay Z treated grown men like kids.

" my publishing company was not set up at the time" ,shot himself in the foot on that one. That was one of his most successful singles today, he could have ate off of that single alone for the rest of his life. He could have made millions off of that one single especially since he provided the hook for the song , that's a damn shame. You never go to these major labels or major label artists without a lawyer in tow in every single meeting or studio that you enter without a contract ready to sign on anything that you do including hooks and instrumentals. We would be hearing a lot of unreleased good music right now if all of these rappers knew that before they signed any of these contract smh

The Roc had a roster of talent but Kanye was the only 1 who knew how to write hit records. Roc ended over 10 years ago and none of them dropped not 1 hit record yet. All they doing is dropping videos bout what this and that person did and didn't do. Roc gave all them momentum and they couldn't sustain it.

This title is misleading. He's less saying that someone stole from him, more that he didnt have his OWN affairs in order. And Give it to Me was far from his 2nd largest record in his career. And it's stupid to think anyone can make MILLIONS from a single, so he didnt loose that much. He shouldve used to opportunity to do more music. Look at Nate Dogg, he figured it out.

He wasn't going to get publishing for that anyway. That was a Rick James line from "Give it to me baby." If he got upfront money then he was better off. At any rate, even without his publishing company setup, he should have gotten writing royalties from a PRO (ASCAP, BMI, Etc). That would have been half of the total performance money he would get. Gotta know the business dudes!
