Omnath, Locus of Creation Deck Tech - THE LANDS ARE FALLIN' // Magic the Gathering // EDH

After opening an Omnath, Locus of Creation, we just had to make an EDH landfall deck for him. He keeps adding more colors, so we keep making more decks. This deck is all about playing lots of lands per turn, gaining a mana advantage, and triggering these cool landfall cards. Let’s see how much game this Omnath has.

So some cool ideas for when omnath becomes 5 color for black when a land etb's 1) create a 2/2 zombie token that's a land in addition 2) whenever a land goes to the graveyard fr the battlefield you may put a land card from your hand into the battlefield. 3) whenever a land either etb's or goes to the graveyard each opponent loses two life and you gain two life. 4) whenever a land etb's or goes to the graveyard from the battlefield target creature gets -X/-X counters for each land card in your graveyard. Put a +1+1 counter on a creature you control for each -X-X that was placed on target creature. I was just thinking of some ideas that would be really interesting and fun for the black flavor for omnath. Maybe make it to where the lands would trigger only when they go to the graveyard. Go with a land in the graveyard from the battlefield since everything is focused on etb's.

Hi @Rhaine X, those are some cool ideas for Omnath V, I like the land dies trigger similar to Titania. I believe Omnath V will have landfall. I believe it will have both landfall and land dies ability for example: landfall: put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control and deal 1 damage to each creature opponents control, land dies: drain 2 life. I think they will remove the ETB trigger to make room for all of that text. Thanks again for stopping by and coming up with cool ideas for the next Omnath.

Nice list, currently sticking mine together. Just got a playset of each of the fetch lands in expedition :D Pretty similar looking list, although I have shoehorned in valakut with scapeshift and Nahiri's Lithoforming :D Thanks for sharing!

If you included prismatic omens you would get a ton of triggers off of valakut with the scapeshift.

I know this video is old but I would do an updated version with stuff from mh2 since we got tireless provisioner and I would add in aesi as another Tatyova effect along with updated creatures like cultivator colossus and augur of autumn landfall is getting dumb now with all these good cards and since you run dryad I’m surprised you didn’t add valakut in their for fun love to see how the deck has evolved

I do agree, landfall has gotten so many good toys over the years. I actually tore this deck apart and rebuilt it based in Mengu's deck list. I do want to do a video on this one day.

It seems like you'd like the card Trade Routes... i think people have forgotten about the card. I know you had minimal enchantments, but it guarantees lands are in your hand, and can get crazy with asuza.

I recommend Goblin Bombardment. You seem to have a 2nd theme which is elementals and if you pair it with Omnath, Locus of Rage, then you have an instant sack outlet that can do 4 damage in total

Hi @Jayden Collins, thanks for the recommendation. I have Goblin Bombardment in my Prossh, Skyraider of Kher deck and it's really fun. I wonder if it would be better in the Omnath, Locus of Rage deck as the 4-color Omnath is really tight on space.

super nice. your deck is very similar to mine of course no vesuva but i do have emeria sky ruin just in case board hate comes. and also morag the combat boy of landfall is just busted.

That is a super nice deck, but all its greatness comes at a very high price, it just hurts to see that some of them are also foil, thank you very much for your tech, but no, way to expensive, but keep doing videos, it works to get a guide and know what cards can go and what kind of things i should look for but in a cheaper version

Currently building an omnath deck. My iteration is more of a control shell. Would it be too greedy to play valakut with dryad and prismatic omen? Could also use Pulphoros, god of the forge to machine gun everyone with field of the dead

Hi @Jonathan Baago, thanks for checking out my video. I considered these cards and my opinions are: Scapeshift is either a wins more card, a card that takes a long time to resolve because you have to track the lands you have on the battlefield + graveyard + library to make sure you don't stone rain yourself, and a do nothing/very little card if you don't have any landfall cards on the battlefield. For those reasons I cut the card. Glacial Chasm is a great card on the other hand. The reason I cut it is my play group doesn't run too much land destruction and with the new Ancient Greenwarden, it's easy to recur and lock everyone out of the game. It's just unfun to play against and seeing my friends just throw their hands up and agree to concede isn't that much fun. However, if your play group is willing to endure the card, I would say run it!

I included all of the non-black ones + Prismatic Vista and Fabled Passage, but you can just include all 10 if you want more double landfall triggers.

I'm testing too a more landfall focused deck. This general needs crazy amount to card draw to work. I cut Nissa because it's impossible to defend and horn of greed (never help strong opponents!!!, also they can use all their draws against you when you are in a better position) but I play Consecrated sphinx, nezhal, rhystic study, Zendikar Resurgent, Valakut exploration and i've a good feeling with urban evolution, escape to the wilds and sea gate restoration, and i'm considering Tishana and temur omnath. My best finisher is Craterhoof after many landfall token triggers. Bala ged recovery is better than eternal witness in this deck. Other t1 play are Sakura tribe scout and skyshroud ranger, i win with them thanks to retreat to corahelm.

The only thing I noticed is omnath landfall abilities only happen 3 times they don't keep going every turn once you play 3 lands while he is out his landfall is done

That's correct @Dkillyou8, but usually three triggers is all you need to take advantage of Omnath.

I'm currently working on other budget decks, however I don't have plans on doing Omnath (KZfaq is weird about having 2 similar videos when you don't have a ton of subscribers, it'll only show one of them when scrolling through thumbnails). Hi @Jacob Creel, I don't usually have an issue with card draw/card advantage with the deck. There's lots of ways to get card advantage like Radha, Courser, Oracle, Uro, Omnath III, Tatyova, Tireless Tracker, Horn of Green, Emeria, Nissa, Wrenn, Horizon Lands, etc. I also forgot to draw a card from Omnath's ETB trigger in the video.

Hi @ Justin Bafia, that's sweet you have a starting point on making the new Omnath IV deck with your Omnath III deck. You might have to start looking at black cards for whenever Omnath V comes out!

@@vex_mtg well, the scute swarm would pair well with the terror of the peaks due to terrors etb trigger and since there's gonna be some cases of multiple lands entering the field it'll snowball like a MF

Hi @Enrico Donisi, It's hard to find space for everything. I wanted to include more tutors like Natural Order and Wordly Tutor but just couldn't take out anymore cards. I'm also not a fan of too many tutors because it reduces variance in the games you play. My play group doesn't like seeing me play the same cards every game (Bane of Progress), I actually remove all except maybe one tutor when playing. Thanks for checking out my video!

I don't think you should be running Phylath, World Sculptor in a deck that only has 11 basics lands.

Hi @david C, thanks for your insight. I believe Phylath, the World Scrulptor is still a good card in the deck, even if I can't get max value from them. I'm okay with making only 2-3 tokens as the landfalls triggers are still very powerful, being able to pump those plants. With that said, it would be one of my first cuts if I need to make room.

No flicker cards? They let you get more omnath triggers and reset his landfall count. Ephemerate is just a 1 CMC draw 2 that resets Omnath’s landfall count and protects from targeting effects. Ghostly Flicker does the same and can also flicker lands to trigger landfall. Ashaya lets ANY flicker card trigger landfall. It’s not just Omnath either, flickering Titania nets you a land from grave. Flickering Avenger of Zendikar doubles the amount of plant tokens, etc.

Understandable, though I highly recommend Ghostly Flicker regardless. Even if you don’t need to reset Omnath, it’s still two landfall triggers
