Simple and effective. If you built a matching one for the other side you could add your Forsner bit collection.

I put a magnet to the belt casing and that holds chuck and favourite bits.

Nice project, but good luck with it. I've tried drill and router bit storage in wooden blocks and both resulted in rusty bits over time where they were in contact with the metal.

Great Simple Project, I have been thinking of making a similar one for a while. I think if you added one of those small magnetic bars along the front edge it might make it more handy.

Hi Matt, A good way to store your drill bits, I like the way you got it clamped around the shaft and for easy reach. I got my drill bits on a length of CLS about 50 cm long drilled in to 3 rows hold's about 40-50 drill bits. Another thing I have done with my drill is attached a light to it, I use an old bed side lamp, take the base off it's got a flexible stand I undo the nut fix it to a car exhaust pipe clamp fit it around the shaft. Fitted a new 2 core flex from the bulb fitting down the flex stand to a light switch on the bench leg ,cable tied it with the drill cable to a enclosed connecting block were the two cable connected together and a short cable to the plug ,one plug powers both drill and light. sorry if its a bit long winded trying to explain how I done it. As always a great video, Take care

Ina short time the vibrations from drill will shake bits lose and they will start falling out. Add a second layer of ply under the first with some glue then drill all hole down about an 1”

An alternate method to mount is to cut two shallow "V"s instead of a large circle. Cut off the end piece, cut the shallow "V" in the end piece then in the main piece typically on a bandsaw but can also be done with handsaw. This provides 4 points of contact vs the two points of a larger circle.

Nice practical design. I like the way the bits each have their own diameter hole. Makes it easier to return the bit to the correct place. Which makes it easy to find next time :)

If you knew you were going to split it why didn't you split it, then put the 2 halves together , draw the hole and then use the band saw? Be careful with wood or mdf for drill storage as moisture in the timber will corrode the drill shank. It looks like the rear right bolt has split the ply layers try using a 'fender' washer to spread the load.

Sorry, don't like it. It limits the size of the projects. Mount a holder on the wall, and you could 3D print it, a hinged cover would be nice too.😊
