The song was originally composed by a Japanese singer/songwriter many years ago. When the singer is saying "please don't go", he is referring to the true story of a famous and well loved singer and actress in China who was exiled and accused of being a spy during WW II when her secret Japanese heritage was discovered. There is a well-known and popular version of the song with different lyrics in Mandarin called Autumn Strong. Dimash performed it years before this performance on the show The Singer in China and had the audience in tears. He does Ikanaide years later here and he is better with age and more experience. But he is always excellent and varies the song a little each time he performs it at all his concerts. The silence near the end goes straight to my heart.

Nice reaction. I hear what you are saying about just listening to that voice. That may work with a lot if not all other singers but many Dimash songs have an incredible backstory you should know. The iincredible Samaltau is a 100 year old song about a young Kazakh man forced by the Russians to fight in WWI. He wonders if he will ever see his homeland agan and what his life will be like as a soldier. The Kazakh instruments here eerily mimic the wind, rain, wolves, and the marching men. War and Peace he wrote in his early 20s and he worked with a Chinese poet on the antiwar lyrics. The Digital show version is great but the most moving performance was in 2020 in Kiev, Ukraine. You can't stop thinking about all those Ukranians in the audience soon to find out all about war. Daybreak should never be watched without the tragic backstory and the lyrics. The version on the " Singer" competition found on Gloria Wu's channel tells the story and shows how Dimash lost his voice the day before the competition. Though sick, he had an amazing performance. He later performed it at Bastau and let out all thestops. Many reactors do the Gloria Wu "Singer" version back to back with Bastau to appreciate the difference. It may be one of the saddest songs ever written. I could go on but I have to say just listening to the voice with other singers may be ok. With Dimash it is amazing.....but you will miss so, so much of what makes these songs incredible and what makes Dimash Dimash.

Air in the voice is many times can be a failure in the technique...unless you have a flawless technique and use that air in the voice deliberately to convey a certain emotion. This performance is pure art made out of some sounds, some air and a lot of emotions. It is perfection in emotion conveying

Dimash had to do this performance in a studio for The Tokyo Jazz Festival because of travel restrictions due to the Covid. Dimash always seems to be conducting himself when he sings almost all his songs. He commits so emotionally to a song. If you notice, he prepares himself mentally and emotionally before each song. Then afterward, he has to come back to himself. I heard this sung by the original composer and he was excellent, with a full-on orchestra, but, Dimash took this to another level of perfection. It doesn't matter if he is on stage or in the studio, Dimash will give 110% to the performance. After SOS, from The Singer 2017 performance, this is my favorite song from Dimash. Then it is Adagio, All By Myself, and Unforgettable Day from the same show. He was only 22 and was great even then. Thank you again for your comments and don't sweat the pauses. We all know they are necessary, and anyone can always watch the video itself.🎼🎶🎵🎙

Some wonder why his hands are shown so much in his singing. He sings contemporary but. In classical and operatic singing the ands are used dramatically. He’s so perfect with it. The professionals say he “self conducts”. So this matches what you imagined him doing, but I more so believe that his hands gonupnwithbthe incline of the notes and down with the decline of notes. I don’t know how he does this without seeming fake but he never looks fake. It’s my opinion the sheet music here is for the particular kinds of breathing he is using in the song not for note reading or words because Dimash has never used sheet music in performances. There may be other ways on stage for him to see words but there are concerts at small venues here there was no place for words. I just believe with his prodigy comes a photographic memory like talented actors who memorize long readings in seconds. Dimash is one of the most dramatic emoting singers I’ve ever heard. He is the Superman of vocals. I don’t comparisons of of others to him. You just can’t compare one song of Dimash to one person or one song only to

Dimash’s mum uses her hands when she sings onstage, so he has had so many examples from her and also from his idol, Lara Fabian. In this case, it is obvious that he studied Japanese language phonetics, because they say his wording is perfect, which is apparently very difficult to achieve as a foreigner. When he was young, and he had a new song to sing somewhere, they say he would go into his bedroom/(studio?) and practise and internalize the song for a week, and that would make it extremely well remembered and produced. He is mastering phonetics, as you can see in how his foreign singing is surprising his audience. He never lets a mistake rest.

Kōji Tamaki is a Japanese singer-songwriter of Ikanaide and Dimash performed a previous version in Chinese called Autumn strong kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fL6BaJuGkqvIlJs.html this song is based in a true story about Yoshiko Yamaguchi who was born in China, hid her japanese heritage under a chinese name, became very loved. After WWII, her heritage was exposed, she was arrested, accused of being a japanese spy, and sentenced to death. She was ultimately cleared of charges, but was advised to leave the country, as she risked being lynched. Dimash is a master of the story-telling, his voice makes you feel deep emotions and takes you there where that song happened. Beautiful!! A Japanese reactor mentioned that his softness with the hard consonants is a function of how well Dimash understands and has learned the mechanics (tongue and jaw placement) of the Japanese language. It's something very difficult for native English speakers to do. ❤️🎤🔝🔝🌹🌹👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I KNEW you'd love this!! If you get the time, check out the original by Koji Tamaki. While he's not Dimash, he still sings it in a hauntingly beautiful way. I won't go into the backstory on this one, I'm sure there are Dears out there far better qualified than I, but I especially love that once you do know, it makes it even more special that he's done this in both Japanese and Chinese (Autumn Song). I've lived a lot of decades and heard a lot of music and I think it's going to take something pretty bloody special to knock this one off the top of my favourites list. So happy you enjoyed it. ❤

Ikanaide is a song written by Koji Tamaki. This performance was for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. That year they were honoring Koji Tamaki a Japanese composer. Dimash has sung this song in Chinese but this time in honor of Tamakl he is singing it in Japanese. Koji Tamakl said that there have been other performers who sang it for him but Dimash is the first to sing it in Japanese for him. He loved it! Your stopping so often is frustrating to those of us who know the song and are waiting for those special Dimash moments to come. You stop at Ted wrong time because you don’t know the song. Maybe, if you just Rajesh notes and at the end give us your take on it. This way we enjoy the music along with you enjoying it for the first time! You can’t fully enjoy while looking for places to stop the music. With Dimash, you can always tell when he’s going to do something special! You truly miss some of the specialness that is Dimash while waiting for a place to stop!!! 😊

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. In the original version, the lyrics are more intimate, sentimental and more recognized worldwide. It means: "Please don't go!". A cover. 😊 Again love your appreciation, details noticed and shared with us. ❤ When I first heard this song I thought it was boring and repetitive until I learned about the different techniques used. Now it’s one of my very favorites and I’m brought to tears almost every time I hear it. ❤😢❤ Dimash is a master of vocal techniques. Thank you.

Dimash did this for the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021 and is a cover of a song by a well loved Japanese singer Koji Tamaki (I think that's right). I love this song so much that I learned the lyrics, having never tried to learn another language before. This song (and the Chinese version, Autumn Strong, which Dimash also sings) is based on a true story of an actress of Japanese/Chinese descent became famous in China during the 2nd World War, but was banished from China after the Japanese part of her heritage was uncovered. Thank you for your reaction. I don't share your opinion that this is a background song, as it is so beautifully interpreted by Dimash, but I respect your opinion 😊🙏❤

You misunderstood ☺️ I believe I said this isnt a background song as he demands your attention but some could potentially listen to it as such. Thanks for watching

we are used to pausing so don't worry about that. He does direct himself when he sings. I love that. Agree it isn't background music. Actually I can't think of anything he sings that I don't have to watch
