Christopher Voparil is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL. He is the author of 'Richard Rorty: Politics and Vision' (2006) and 'Reconstructing Pragmatism: Richard Rorty and the Classical Pragmatists' (2021). He is also the co-Editor of 'The Rorty Reader' (2010) with Richard Bernstein, 'On Philosophy and Philosophers: Unpublished Papers 1960-2000' (2020) with W. P. Małecki, and 'What Can We Hope For? Essays on Politics' (2023) also with W. P. Małecki.

Voparil gets it right. Rorty is a pragmatist -- he says what needs to be said to bring about what needs to be brought about

Thanks, both of you, for this insightful discussion of Rorty's relevance for politics and philosophy. Your final commentary on his implications for building solidarity in the "post-truth" era feels especially important.

Great conversation! Thank you for bringing it. I can really recommend Voparils book ”Reconstructing Pragmatism” . And also ”the Rorty Reader” which he edited with Richard J Bernstein. It was great to hear him talk of hermeneutic charity, something that Bernstein was into. We should put more of that into practice . Cheers

I think his political theory was commentary on philosophy, because philosophy is political. And he was right. Especially about truth.
