This video is about having compassion in an uncompassionate world.
I'm not completely happy with this loose-ended vlog and I hesitate to post it at all but I hope it helps somebody.

I've been going through a lot of effort in embracing stoic philosophy, and trying to live a better life. You have not posted in a long time, but I can feel the very compassion in your nature. This video is really something I needed to see, it's not about the tragedy, there will always be tragedies. This video might as well be made my Marcus Aurelius himself in my eyes, the way you demonstrate the definitiveness life and death with the katydids, and show compassion towards the butterfly you wounded is profound. Please make more videos like this, maybe they don't get as many views, but you are an individual who I can tell is even further along the path to enlightenment than myself. When I find myself angry, and cynical, I will try to reflect on these great teachings. Thank you, and I hope you see by the ratio of views to likes to comments, the people watching this video are touched.

I was raised on a farm and my father believed you care for the creatures around you as you would a person. We hunted animals to survive but it was done as a need and was always done quickly so that the animal didn't suffer. We only took what we needed. So many humans today take what they want not what they need and its becoming a real problem. It was good to hear from you hope your life is going well!

I really wasn’t expecting a new upload from you anytime soon, especially not on this topic. I wholeheartedly agree with your perspective, a lot of people really are just apathetic individuals who are incapable of respecting someone(s) because of their own personal biases, and or as you put it, people can just be assholes. In any case, I’m glad to see you back, I’m hoping that you’ll start posting consistently again, or at the very least do an update on the animals. If not, I understand.

I hope this video isn't goodbye. For years I've enjoyed your calm voice and you indiscriminate gentleness to all living creatures. This video was beautiful, and your voice was as kind as always, but you also sounded so sad and defeated. I know intimately how hurtful people can be, so I understand how demoralizing and frustrating it is to be a helpless bystander to vicious things. I hope you realize that your genuine compassion has always shined through your videos, and touched my heart (along with countless others, I'm sure). While its important to never forget the horrors in order to keep history from repeating itself, it's equally as important to acknowledge the little kindnesses around us, like those butterflies who help grow flowers and those flies who help make fertilizer and those katydids who help make music and those geese that help make food and you, Daniel, who helps make the world a better place. I will support whatever path you decide to take with this channel. My only request is that you keep posting. It doesn't have to be often, or scheduled, or of a specific topic. I will just be glad to listen to your thoughts and once again get a glimpse of the world through your wonderful point of view. I wish you the best. "Death is not the end of life; it is but the completion of one's journey. Hope is not just robust courage, but it is also revitalized willpower. Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree." - Martin Luther

Didn't expect to ever see another AfroHerpkeeper video posted, kind of a surprise, too bad it's for this bootlicking nonsense. Won't someone think of the millionaires, an intrinsic inborne quality that the rich person has no control over or power to change? Glad you're alive and well, at least.

Billionaires are ALWAYS political. Especially in a nation with such staggering wealth inequality and which doesn't tax them at a rate even remotely comparable to the working class. I am not saying the sub passengers deserved to die, not at all. But to say that there is nothing political about this is categorically false. My daughter watched me nearly die at her father's hands because I am a spinal cord disabled woman with no family of origin around, and I live in a nation where I am not valued because I don't produce for the machine. I had to maneuver and hide money and beg him to calm down and pretend to be meek and take hellish shit for 4½ years before I could finally take my kid and scram. As I reached out for help to friend after friend over the years, time and time and time again I was met with, "But he is soooo nice and sweet to you!!! You know, it must be really hard for him to be married to someone with your [vague gesturing at my torso]....issues. Most men would have never even married you in the first place." My entire EXISTENCE is political. After I got us out (with the help of the most fabulous friends on the face of the planet, who all flew in from other states or drove in from hundreds of miles away on zero notice to get us safer)--my daughter spent *months* screaming in her sleep while her dad blocked me from getting her into therapy. I am trying to avoid brain surgery while sick to death while taking care of a child alone. All things which would have been different in nations who value people based on being people, not on their ability to produce. But everyone is super quick to have empathy for the person in the position of power, per usual. What is that misattributed Mark Twain quote? "Americans will never adopt socialism because it's the only nation full of people who see themselves as temporarily embarrassed millionaires." We *always* identify with the a$$hole$, because who wants to identify/empathize with someone like me? Let me be entirely clear. I agree entirely that no one on that sub deserved to die. But do you think a single one of those billionaires gave a flying fig about the fact that I'm putting peanut butter and jelly on credit cards and turning to survival sex work? Can you not understand the irony of asking common people to have empathy for THEM? People like Jeff Bezos wake up every day and make the CHOICE to not end world hunger, and to instead fly a giant phallus into outer space while he knows how much his workers suffer and that many more people suffer even worse. Millions of people don't even have clean water. Many in this very nation. Maybe, just....perhaps....the vitriol and the jokes and the memes are coming as a release from real, true, genuine human hurt. The ultra-rich have *zero* empathy for us, but when they die on an ego-adrenaline mission to get bragging rights, the whole world is supposed to observe a moment of reverence and we get scolded because we weren't taught the sanctity of life as children? Are you for real? In the U.S. alone, between twenty-six and thirty thousand people died last year from inadequate access to medical care. Maybe some sanctimony should go there. Maybe if something compels you to upload for the first time in years, it shouldn't be a few dead billionaires, but the millions of people who not only had zero agency in how they died, but also how they lived. As a leftist I believe in minimizing suffering. Period. I haven't made a single joke or shared a single meme claiming anyone deserved to die. But everyday people are struggling, my guy...hard. Really hard. Taking the piss as a form of emotional release has to be--if not laudable or defensible--at least understandable. I am EXHAUSTED of being told to respect people who have their boot on my neck and do not care to even remove it. My kid and I could die in a gutter and not one of them would give a shit. Am I angry about that? You're damn right I am.

I am definitely sorry for the lot the system has handed you. The video is not intended to hurt you in any way. This is not about billionaires but about the way our culture treats souls like news items. It is understandable to hate billionaires when the concerted effort of just one of them could change existence for many people. Yet they are souls the same as you or I and even if they act childish, foolish, or even worse, as you pointed out they exist independently from our suffering. Be that as it may we live in a world where it is possible for things to change and where even billionaires can be touched to be charitable. There are a million ways you can dispute what I have to say, about having compassion for every person, no matter how horrible, and I never said anything about pardoning or forgiving other people. We can and should feel however we like about others, especially if they deserve criticism, but we should still understand that everyone else is a reflection of ourselves, that everyone is the same in a fundamental way.

I am a true single mother of two children. One of them is Autistic. I literally have no family or friends. The only school in our area kicked them out because they do not want to have to pay for a special aid to help them and they don't want to have to put money into a special needs program. I have to do all the speech therapy, physical therapy for general and fine motor skills. As well as all their schooling. If I and my children were to disappear no one would care or notice. I understand that you are angry at your life and others. But the fact is you need to let that go. I am neither left or right. I look at the worst and best of both sides. Making fun of someone's death REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINANCIAL SITUATION is wrong. It is extremely judgemental. Just as judgmental as you claim others are to you. I know what ab*se does to someone. I have literal scars from it. I have to cover up those scars to preventpeople from staring. I have unseen scars and still have unseen wounds that make me want to end it all. I have been broken, forced upon by men taking their pleasure. I have been mentally and verbally attacked. You name it. I have had it. So believe me. If you don't learn to let it go. As painful as it was and maybe still is. It will eat you alive! Make you resentful of everything. You will stay the victim instead of being the victor! Those guys made a HUGE mistake for money. YOU admitted that you are sleeping with others for money. Which is also a huge mistake. I know it might seem like you do not have any choice. But if you stop. Let go of your anger and pain. Look around and try to see the support and resources you have. You can pull yourself up. It will be hard but it is doable. YOU HAVE A CHOICE. Blaming the rich for not knowing who you are and your situation is one; not logical and two; a victim mentality. It doesn't matter if the rich give all their money to people and pay to fix everyone's problems. There would STILL be others like you and people still not be able to get the healthcare they need. Money helps yes. But it doesn't fix what you want it to fix. YOU have yo fix that yourself. The political world has NOTHING to do with you. Hating on others because you don't have what they have. Isn't going to do anything but continue to make you angry. Your ex was horrible. You and your daughter no longer live with him. You had friends that came for miles to help you. You are not alone You quality for benefits for health and financial based on what you stated about your spine and health. So, you do have financial help. You do not need to work the streets and call it survival. That is unnecessary. You have your daughter. My point is that you have far more than you think you have. There is a reason why they say that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The whole point of his video was to say that you may not agree with someone or like them. But that doesn't mean you need to be disrespectful and hateful to them. You clearly don't like when people are like that with you. So why is it ok for you to be like that to others? Especially, people you really don't know. You have never met or even knew about until they were put in the news. The answer..... it isn't ok. No matter which way you slice it. Theirs and your political standing, financial standing and life circumstances. Have NOTHING to do with how YOU treat others. I am not religious at all. But the saying "Do onto others, as you want done onto yourself." is there for a reason. You have no idea how hard they worked for their money or how they became rich. You do not know their political beliefs or why they have those beliefs. You do not know if they did use their money to help other who really needed it. You know nothing about them at all. Never talked to them. Yet you are being disrespectful of their death (yes, by defending others making fun of them and how they died. Saying that they deserved it. Is being disrespectful of their death) just because of your situation with your spine, health and your ex. You are blaming them for everything wrong in your life. You are blaming them because you don't have as much as they have. You have clouded your eyes with hate, anger, envy and want. So badly that you are unable to see what you have.
