Should I presume that I should regenerate much more often than the backflush? I understand that it depends on the softness of the water which brings me to another question. How can I tell if my water is no longer soft? Is that just a subjective judgement call?

@TheBenjamin500200110 ай бұрын
How many gallons ANY softener will approximately make depends on the hardness of the water source and your water usage. To figure out the approximate capacity of your unit, take the grains of the unit (Standard 8,000/Double 16,000) and divide that by the grains per gallon (GPG) of the water source. It flushes out any remaining salt that might be left over.
@digger1053373 ай бұрын
Going with a bigger unit will give you more time between service. If your stationary and plan to stay yearly, perhaps a full size house unit in a small shed like building that regens itself would be best. You just have to keep the salt reservoir full and it takes care of itself. They usually hold bags full of softener salt and need to be plugged in to 110 power so it can operate.

Does the water supply then go into the outlet side to flush? Or does the water supply just get reconnected to the "In" side? Im stumped with the term backflushing. Im assuming that means you actually run the water source backwards through the out? Connect water source to out? drain out of the input side? I use this in my shower. I have a wand hose that goes from shower neck into the In side. Another shower hose and wand coming out of the output side. Just confused.
@TheBenjamin50020012 жыл бұрын
The regeneration process is when you add the salt and flush it through the softener. The backflush is what you do every 3 months by running the was through the softener backwards.
@ThepowderbluesForum2 жыл бұрын
@@TheBenjamin5002001 Oh wow i didnt know we did both a regen and backflush. The "was" is supposed to be "water"? At any rate...im still confused on the regen. @@mrslalanne Was the water just a color or were partials in the water? Are you testing it at the output of the unit and NOT inside the RV? The data with it very hard before the softener and the lowest box after the softener and only making 60 gallons does now make sence how a softener works unless resin has been lost or it's being checked in different locations.
