My vision....
Hi everyone, and welcome to my page. My name is Demi, I’m 24, and I’m an adult living with FASD. When I began my own personal journey to researching my condition, I found a distinct lack of information and resources out there for adults living with FASD. Most of what I was coming across was centred around young children and often a lot of ‘how to’ worksheets for caregivers and education staff. Now don’t get me wrong, it's fantastic to have such information that is accessible, and although I could relate to certain aspects of challenges that can be faced at a young age, there was something missing. Struggles that I was having that weren't mentioned, or just couldn't get that ‘ah ha’ moment. This makes complete sense though as the demands of a young child and the expectations put on them are very different to those of an adult with daily responsibilities as well as chasing an independent future.
It was this research that lead me to bridging that gap in not only practical resources and ‘FASD life hacks’, but also that experience of someone actually living with the condition and hearing their story. A source of truly eye opening information is from the individual themselves!
With the resources I share on this page, I do not seek to be able to help everyone, as at the end of the day, everyone's brains work slightly differently from one another and things that work for one person might not work for another. If I can help just a tiny percentage of those that come across this page then I say that’s a winner!
FASD is a spectrum and can often be misdiagnosed, which is why I will be pulling resources from left, right and centre, from ADHD, Autism, Depression, Anxiety and more. However don’t let that daunt you. With all these resources I aim to hit the nail on the head when it comes to life hacks for those FASD quirks!
I hope you enjoy and get something out of this page.
Demi
