While ANA's Flagship product 'The Room' is rightfully praised all across the internet, in this video I try their much less well-known 787 business class flying from Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND) to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). Can this product hold its own or does it not even stand a chance against the competition?

I am very happy to report that ANA’s 787 business class is a solid product. While not as flashy as some competitors, I thought this was a great flight and I would love to fly ANA again. I think my main complaints are that :
1. ANA's business class lounge gets very crowded even fairly early in the morning which didn't make for the most relaxing way to start the trip.
2. There was no amenity kit (come on I want my free collectible 😂)
The seats are not as private as I would like but they are phenomenally maintained and are quite comfortable. The food was excellent as is expected on a Japanese carrier. While I am vegetarian and am usually more restricted, I really enjoyed the meal they prepared for me. The bedding was also great, it felt very ergonomic and I had no problems getting comfortable. I found the footwell to be on the larger side which was wonderful.
If you are flying this specific aircraft configuration, I would highly recommend choosing an A or K seat since you will be much closer to the window and have a much higher sense of privacy. The C and H seats are much more exposed in the aisle.
Despite this seat normally costing $2,500 or more one-way, I was able to book for under $60 in fees using American Express Membership Reward Points. I transferred 30,000 points to Air Canada Aeroplan after finding an award seat available. If you are looking to book on ANA, typically the best availability comes close in usually within 21 days of departure. Flexibility will help immensely here. You can use a variety of tools such as Point.me, United.com, and ExpertFlyer to help you find seats.
