I have a 73’ cb500 and I know that these bikes are just perfect. Not too heavy and not too light. Just enough power to keep it thrilling. Handles very well with sport tires. I love Sunday morning rides like this.

Agree; I thought it sounded very lean.

i would place the clip-ons over the triple tree, for a better riding position

The reason why it is exact so are two things: 1. it looks better 2. you are faster when you are near at your bike .If you want to have a comfortable bike - a cafe racer is not the best choice.

I've got a 75 550k1, was wondering if that sound is your timing chain at low rpms? I haven't put too many miles on mine since the rebuild so i am still curious if that is a standard sound after adjusting everything by the book. It seems like the sound it makes is just short of alarming after i'm all warmed up. all the boards i've read say its a noisy engine. This is normal for yours,? if so ill stop worrying about mine every time I ride. :)

Hi Brian, The noise you mentioned is the primary chain. There’s nothing to worry about, every 550 has it. The 650 rc03 is basically the same engine but with a primary chain tensioner. (Wich is better, so the chain lasts longer and without the noisiness.)
