It’s absurd to me that this video only has a mere 25k views. This particular car is ridiculously significant and the video and sound quality are second to none here. Kudos.

Those turbo wind ups and flutters at the gear change, combined with the raw flat six noise, what a recipe 🤌🏽🪄

This is just awesome, don’t think I’ve seen proper onboard of this car ever before. And what a demonstration of anticipating boost in these early turbo cars. Amazing, thanks

That turbo spool and boxer engine produce a beautiful harmony

THis must be epic to drive! reminds me a bit of my Porsche 930, which took as long as this to spool up, but when it finally goes, is GOES! :D

Looks like a lot of steering force. When I drive these in sim I tend to forget how physical these old race cars are to drive.

Why is the rpm counter not going smoothly? Is it normal with this car?
@dr800085 жыл бұрын
Why is the tachometer so choppy?
@flyingphoenix1135 жыл бұрын
Age, most likely. A lot of vintage tachs don't even "wake up" until a certain RPM.
@Jean_19994 жыл бұрын
The tachometer of my 07 lancer has kinda the same problem it gets stuck at 120 kph I noticed that on the autobahn. Might be stuck at the 120 kph mark might need to take it out and wiggle a little on it might fix the problem.
@flyingphoenix113 Жыл бұрын
Did a bit more digging--it's the type of tachometer. It's known as a "chronometric tach", and they were prominent on racecars all the way through the 1970s. The 917, 908, 906, 904, etc. all have similar tachs which seem to "jump" at 1000RPM increments.

@@flyingphoenix113 Second comment after 3 years? That's an impressive research :) I still would love to know what its benefits are supposed to be. Because it seems counter intuitive to what a driver would want to see, which is accurate immediate reading. This only introduces delay for some reason. Thanks for the comment, though. I'm glad to know now what it's called at least. I have since bumped into this feature in a racing simulator mod where it was just as strange and distracting as in this video.

Why is there what appears to be a doorknob to the right of the boost gauge?

@frontcapone Жыл бұрын
Rev counters in that day and age weren’t as advanced so for more precision, they moved in ticks rather than being constantly changing.
@swanero Жыл бұрын
@@frontcapone interesting, didnt know that, i mean, it seems like a simple mechanic analog thing, i thought it was, maybe not super accurate, but smooth since its conception. thanks
