Extremely rare Banksy interview from 2003 unearthed

ITV News has unearthed an interview with artist Banksy from 2003, before he became one of the world's best-known street artists.
It is thought to be one of the only interviews where part of his face his shown.
The identity of the artists has long been a source of mystery and speculation.

Bro, you clearly don’t have any clue, what the grafitti scene is about, writers biggest sin is to snitch eachother, no matter under what conditions, plus banksy is against capitalism, which means he also hates the exhibitions of his art, the pictures in museums are copies of his art, they’re not made by “him” and even if he was at the exhibition, he would’ve signed a contract, that they cant call any police nor’ get him in trouble or snitch him. They cant break that.

The police know who Banksy is, but they respect his privacy and know the danger that doxxing him will bring. Here's a clue as to how they know his name; he likely has a tracking device in his pocket, we all do.

Someone needs to file a complaint regarding Banksy for the police to take action There was some involvement in the 90s when he was still relatively unknown. But no one really files a vandalism complaint against Bansky now, so the police dont care either.

of course it's him. this was before he was hugely famous. he had no idea where his career would go after this. at this point he had no idea the whole world would try and figure out his identity. he just slipped a t shirt over his face like you would if you wanted to stay a bit hidden due to being a graffiti artist. he could have been a flash in the pan and forgotten within a year of this video. this is 20 years ago. the people in the comments saying it isn't him, are viewing it with the perspective of what we already know about banksy. but this is when he was basically a nobody. he had no reason to have a huge master plan of people stepping in for him and using other people to throw people off of the scent. barely anyone was trying to figure him out at this point.

I second this. Back in 2016 Robin had a Twitter account with his profile pic being a black silhouette of "Banksy" in a hoodie just like in the doc Exit through the gift shop..after the article came out of Robin being in Jamaica and connecting him to Banksy he deleted that account. A few of the threads he wrote somewhat gave a wink as to him being Banksy..another thread had a lyric from the rap group Binary Star he wrote "rodney King ain't never felt the beat like this" ...that convinced me it was the same guy

@@vivianelima4065 yeah I would agree with that except the gentlemen in this video has light brown eyes and Robert has bluish or greenish eyes. It's hard to find a sharp image of him but they clearly are not brown.

@@vonn158 I'm afraid it's still all speculation. And maybe that is a good thing. No one can seem to get any common information together, and perhaps thats the entire plan. Keep everyone guessing by using a group of people to hide inside of. There's like four guys who are regarded as Banksy but no one truly knows. I'm hoping this VERY IMPORTANT artist NEVER gets officially revealed. I believe his anonymity is key to what he (or she) stands for. And I think we can ALL help by mixing up all information. We are ALL BANKSY!

So not the Robbi that had passed and Banksy rival?! Most graffiti artist want not to be known to avoid the police. But once famous they want to take credit for their work. So I’m not sure why Banksy wants to stay unknown. Plus many other street artist know who Banksy is and not all like him bc of the competition in the scene. So I don’t know none of them have come forth and reviled Banksy trie ID. Also this interviewer said he knew his true name and surprises he have not share it ling after the interview. They can find osama bin Laden in a foreign country and they can’t even figure out his id? Luckily Banksy is not a dangerous criminal.

"Vandal"? I'm amazed people still call him that just because he paints in the streets. You are aware whole entire walls have been wilfully removed by the owners to sell for millions because this "vandal" painted on them? Doesn't sound like a vandal to me, sounds like a highly acclaimed artist....but hey i suppose some people are so ignorant if it isn't a painted on a stretched canvas it can't be considered art even if it sells for millions 🤷‍♂️

@@gitsurfer27 Drawing on someone else's property without permission is vandalism. Even a kid's sandcastle is art. If your graffiti could change someone's life would you not choose your 'victims' more carefully? Firstly ask if they want notoriety in their community and if they want that life-changing amount of money they'd get from selling their wall. Maybe if he focussed on the really poor. If he scribbled some natty pics on a few hundred homeless guys' cardboard boxes I might have some admiration. But I'm ignorant so it's pointless asking me anything.
