I just bought a new 2023 TRD Off Road…I just ordered a K&N …I have one in my 2019 TRD Sport…thanks the great tips. I teach my wife to coast to red lights use the pedal less . Anything to save gas …Thanks

What’s your opinion on the trd intake and exhaust ? I may try a k&n filter. I really really love my pedal commander. It was so so much better than I thought.

Thanks CPPC Tech. We have a TRD CAI on order should be here any day. Great thoughts on the Pedal Commander we will see there thank you. On the TRD exhaust we hear it drones at highway speeds we are still TBD yet will probably still acquire. We use BAM Wholesale Parts out of OHIO for the best pricing on TRD parts. Our best, ODTRP

New to the channel. What is TRD CAI? I'm shopping for a 4R now, looking for a dealer that doesn't load the vehicle up with stuff I don't want - it has been a challenge.

CAI means Cold Air Intake we have a separate install video with the part number. PTR03-89100 to Google. Great to have you here. BAM auto parts has great pricing on TRD items.

High octane fuel burns cold and is harder to ignite, meaning it’s less efficient. Lower octane makes more power however it is easier to detonate which makes it less than ideal in high compression/boosted engines because it will pre-detonate and burn pistons. Lower octane=more power when the motor can tolerate it.

We will burn our credentials in the honor of “Tatertot” proclaiming low octane 87 octane superior to 93 octane 🤯. Just topped off our 4Runner with 89 octane tonight. With no highway miles we are at a 19.2 average for miles to the gallon. We also have the TRD CAI installed, we love it. Keep rocking, ODTRP

Great tips! Your missing out on the pedal commander. I was against it till I tried it and dialed it in. You can get better economy with it too it has awesome economy mode and will allow you to use the pedal without the soft touch and still get 20+mpg. I can get 20s on cruise control easily now 22 orp

There’s no fuel efficiency gains with higher octane fuels. I’ve researched this over the years and never once have I found a report that has shown higher octane gives better MPGs.

We can always disagree. The higher the octane the higher the spark. The 4.0 was originally a premium only engine in the FJ. Higher the octane in any motor the better the performance. We are sticking with 89 octane in our 4Runner, it has made a factual difference. Go do your thing, Best ODTRP

So true! people don’t know how to drive. I got 24.1 mpg in my 2018 gx 460 with cruise control set at 64mph highway driving. Now I don’t fly up on red lights and try to keep acceleration under 2500 rpm. What oil are you using in the GX?

Alpha Wolf so true it seems. Drove our 4Runner this evening it has great acceleration for a truck. The GX has not had its first oil change yet, I believe it’s 0-20. Also the TRD CAI made a great improvement to the 4Runner as well. Our Best, ODTRP

@@vladimirnaumovski987 hardcore city stop and go is like 15. I’m averaging around 19.5 mixed with about 70% highway 30% cityish. Stock tires no lift. And I’m conscious of lights and not mashing the gas. It’s a full time 4x4 v8 suv it won’t be good on gas.

3:00 An aftermarket air filter is a TERRIBLE idea. Great for fuel economy, but bad for your engine because "your engine will breathe better" means more dust and dirt will get in your engine, shortening it's life. Saving a couple MPG can't be worth having to replace the engine sooner. If reliability means anything to you, DON'T screw with what the engineers designed, and stay with the OEM style of filter. Seriously.

@@OnDownTheRoadProductions While I'm sure the oil helps quite a bit, by definition, more air getting through means more dust getting through. it's also possible some of the oil itself could get through. The engineers use those OEM filters for a reason. That's all I'm saying.

I just bought a 2010 with a K&N filter but I’ve always ran paper OEM on my others. Counterpoint on K&N is all my dirt bikes and ATVs have foam filters with oil. They are meant for super dusty environments. So I’d like to hear/understand why it’s ok for dirt bikes but horrible for autos.
