Ondrej Nepela - 1971 World Figure Skating Championships LP

Ondrej's brilliant free skate from Lyon where he was the only skater of the leading group to skate a clean LP with two different triple jumps. Patrick Pera of France was close after the figures but this was more than enough to win Ondrej his first world title.

Everything is so clean and just flows, the edges, the lines, no jerky scratching landing jumps. Lovely to watch

Ya cos doubles and triple are easy af. You can’t appreciate what skating is cos you can barely skate trash. Also those jumps are not exactly pretty. You are really bad at skating I can see.

The axel/double euler/double salchow at the midpoint was unique. I had never seen double eulers performed before this video.

Really strong, lovely performance. He was really on. Thanks for sharing. What did they call the second triple jump, the one after the salchow? I thought maybe it was a triple flip, but they called it something else. Did this man win the gold here with that performance?

It was a triple toe loop which back in the day was also called a triple cherry flip in the UK. We also used to call a flip a toe-salchow!!!
