Hello Roger, in Greece there are around 180 to 220 inhabited islands , but for uninhabited islands it is between 8,000 to 17,000 ,Greece has much more more than 200 islands , have a nice day Roger , Hello from Monaco

The sea weather in Greece can vary considerably during the summer months, and not all beaches are calm. The best beaches for swimming are usually the ones facing south and in some way protected, as the Aegean is usually agitated by north winds this time of year.

Ive just got back from 2 weeks in Skiathos and saw you eating in skiathos town-didnt want to disturb you-its a beautiful place but very busy in august-think may or september is probably best time to visit-thanks for video

Its the tourists that adopt the dogs and cats usually the sandinavians danish and english. I believe the dog shelter was started by a danish woman who married a greek. There is also cat shelter and feeding in the main town. Such a great idea as on crete the state of the street cats emaciated and ill is heart breaking

Since you mentioned International drivers' license here's what happened to me. About 2 years ago in winter.. I made a weekend decision to fly to Greece (From California)...and departed on Monday. Wanted to visit Meteora (awesome as you showed in your video), Thermopylae (It sucks! There's no there there, totaly neglected), and anything interesting while doing my loop from Athens. (No beaches though, couldn't care less about beaches after living more than 10+ years 5 minutes from Florida beaches ;-)). The car rental guy in Athens asked me for my International drivers' license... As I was ready to leave, since I did not have it .... he said that I can rent a car from them BUT: 1/ police can fine me Euro 1000+ AND 2/ I would be personally responsible should anything happen to the rented car .. I did take a car after thinking it over for about 10 seconds (I knew I would probably never visit Greece again, so my only chance). Since I could not purchase car insurance from the place and I knew that my Visa credit card coverage would never accept any claim from me should anything happen to the car (because I did not comply with the Greek traffic requirements) I absolutely strictly followed all the Greek road rules/speed limits/etc. I just didn't want any attention from the police. I cannot tell you how many angry looks I got from the Greek drivers ;-) when I strictly complied with all speed limits!! But anyway, I made it without any scratch, interaction with police etc etc. So all ended well, and besides Athens & Meteora my "driving without IDL" will be something I will remember about Greece forever ... 😜

That kind of brown jellyfishes are very common in Greece on August, they look scary, but they are not harmful. Once again it was a great video, thanks:)

Such a joy to see it with you! 🌊🌲🌊🌅🌊🌲🌊 I wonder if tbe jellyfish are an August seasonal thing... the Chesapeake Bay (Maryland & Virginia) has jellyfish every August, traditionally, same time as softshell crab season. 🦀😄 But at the Atlantic beaches nearby, like Ocean City' & Rehoboth, I don't remember ever dealing with jellyfish at all. 🌊🌊🏖️🌊🌊 In the NYC area, I notice lots of small white jelly fish in Jamaica Bay right now, this month. Never have seen any in the Atlantic beach waters nearby - Long Beach, Jones Beach, Far Rockaway, etc - until this year, when just last week we saw 2 small clear jellyfish while swimming the waves at Rockaway Beach.

unfortunately the beaches on the north side of the island are almost always rough water. the best beach if probably banana beach which is down past koukanries beach at the bottom of the island it can be the party beech though in August as its the place to catch great sunset

Hi Gabriel, there's a lot of particles in the sea due to the fires in Evia and they will take a while to clear up. Noticed them also in southern Evia myself.

In the UK you get an International Driving Permit from the Post Office. Probably true of other European countries as well.

Just so you know Gabriel, the north side of the island has much rougher waters and more of a wild feeling compared to the southern calmer waters.

To clarify on driving: non-EU/EEA/CH nationals need an International Drivers Permit. This law has been on the books for a very long time. Whether the car rental agency asks for it or not, you still need it, if you get pulled over. However, the requirement was recently dropped for Americans, Canadians, Australians, Japanese, South Koreans, South Africans, and a couple other countries.

But you can drive a quad 150cc with a car drivers license. The back roads of Skiathos are perfect for quads and your aloud to drive everywhere.

An awesome view of Skiathos beaches! There is a jellyfish outbreak in many Greek beaches this summer possibly related to global warming. As far as I know the brown ones do not sting! Keep up the amazing work, Gabriel!

All the small debris in the sea is probably as a result of the bush fires and bits carried in the water.

The jellyfish are normal and tend to move with winds and current. I lived on skiathos for summer 1977. And yes the tentacles on these jellyfish do burn and sting. NOT climate change however!

I don' see how you would have to pay 2,000-3,000 Euros on a ticket if you don't have an International license. The Rental company should pay for renting it to you without one. Your a foreigner. You don't know the rules? But luckily you got out of it.

They catch big dogs and put tbem in cages than let them being free run on the beech and find their own food. It makes no sense to me plus these dogs want to be set free. It also make not much sense that you walk to the beech and not ride your motor bike up to the water while pointing out its easier to ride a bike on these little island road paths than driving a car! I like your videos and comments.

If you were to compare your experience amongst the Sporades islands, which did you like the most. We were trying to figure out how much time to spend on each: skiathos, skopelos, alonissos. Any advice would be appreciated!

Yes, that explains the choppy water. Looks like it's generally windier on that side of the island and thus rougher seas. But it doesn't explain the jellyfish or particles. Apparently the particles are due to the wildfires.
