Absolutely amazing show. Beautifully acted and the film score was stunning. I've watched it several times and it still moves me. It's how life is sometimes. It isn't always happy endings, but the fact it's been one of the most successful shows Netflix has aired tells you everything. Thank you for your beautiful and honest reaction. The show makes you appreciate the people you love and life itself. 😘

One more thing, since I recall you enjoying "Red, White, and Royal Blue," I recommend watching "The Idea of You," "High Strung," and Amazon's "Cinderella," all of which star Nicholas Galitzine who played Henry in "Red, White, and Royal Blue" and have much happier endings than "One Day." A lot of people pan that version of "Cinderella," but it has a satire, campy quality to the humor, which reminds me of a "Good Omens" vibe, and I also enjoyed some to the plot changes to the traditional "Cinderella" story. Also, going back to "The Idea of You," Nicholas' co-star is Anne Hathaway. Anne and he have great chemistry. I keep trying to decide who has better chemistry, Nicholas and Taylor Zakhar Perez or Nicholas and Anne. I think I give Nicholas and Taylor the edge, but it's very close. I love both pairings.

Nicholas has been so busy lately. I'm so happy for him. I'm actually hoping to watch The Idea of You this weekend. It's on my to do list. I will keep the others on my suggestions list. Thank you!

I'm so sorry you had to see that. It was devastating. I didn't watch any of the previous reactions to this show because I didn't think I'd be able to keep this spoiler to myself. I have not and will not watch the show, because I watched the movie with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess in 2011 or 2012 with my husband. It's one of my most hated movies. It was a date-night movie to watch back when Netflix sent people DVDs. My husband and I were all cozy snuggling watching what was promoted as a romance... not tragic romance, but romance, which rule #1 in a romance is you do not kill either of the members of a couple in a romance. There can be struggles and angst in a romance, but a writer better give people either a happy ending or a 'happy for now' ending. When the scene played, I was rubbing my husband's shoulder, and when she got hit, and I suddenly squeezed and almost dislocated his shoulder as we both screamed "NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at the screen. I was so distraught that I cried for two hours, and it completely ruined date-night. My husband and In were in disbelief that they'd actually kill her, and we waited to find out she survived, so we watched dumbstruck for the last 15 to 20 minutes of the movie with her being senselessly killed off. It took all my self control to keep from smashing the DVD. This is originally from a book, and I guess the author thought he was being clever writing this 'didn't see it coming' twist, but as a romance writer myself, I must say, it's not clever, it's a betrayal of the readers/viewers who invested their time and emotion into a story, just to be told F---k off by the writer. It's not clever, it's cheap and cruel. Both my husband and I were in shocked that Netflix decided to make a TV series out of this awful story. ((Hugs))

I am so sorry YOU experienced that with the movie. I did not see it coming and have not watched the movie or read the book so it was definitely unexpected. I really don't like that their journey ended just when their relationship was beginning. I wanted them to have children and grow old together. They went through so much angst and growth in the 20s and early 30s, it was time for them to have a happy ending. It was heartbreakingly beautiful how much they loved each other as best friends and partners in life that was cut much too short. I was crying while editing as well. It stayed with me for a while as well. Take care and hugs to you and yours. 💗

It ain't always sunshine and rainbows out there. Art exists to make us feel, not necessarily smile. It's okay to have your own preferences, but that doesn't make anything unaligned with it perverse. This story is breathtakingly tragic, and though devastating, puts us back in touch with our most vulnerable selves. In a world of distractions and numbing agents, it's in art such as this that we are humbled back into remembering what is to be human. Being able to feel the grief of today, promises the capacity to let in the joy of tomorrow. If we ignore all the hurt, we've also cast aside the good.
