A busy day for steam in Carlisle with two charters arriving minutes apart Tangmere went to Upperby first which caused Braunton to have less time to be serviced so some oiling round was done in the station which was good to see close up for a change and saved a walk for me.

Thank you Ian Oiling round was certainly the highlight for me. I only get to see that from far away, it was good Tangmere had blocked them getting into Upperby yard or as usual I would of only had a distant view if I had walked there. I would love to see BR emblems back on our trains but I bet they go for some flashy logo.

You must have been burning the midnight oil Colin to have got that edited and online after travelling home. Good to see some of the shots that I missed and different perspectives on the ones I did catch.

I got home around 9pm and put my oven on while copying the files to PC. I was going to edit today but ended up doing it until midnight and uploaded it. A long day as I was up at 5am and that walk over the fields to end with, but at least it was a nice evening. Glad you spotted a few shots you liked. The highlight for me was seeing Braunton being oiled round in close detail.

A really good video Colin out of the top drawer that. You don't get to see Two Bullieds together very often well done that man. Incidentally there are some very good You Tube vids at The Swanage Railway Gala featuring MN, BB,WC Pacific's

Thank you Denis. When I saw there were two Bullied hauled charters arriving in minutes of each other it was a rare sight I did not want to miss, It was a lovely sunny day as well making Braunton look very nice as they oiled round. There were 8 Bullieds and these two making 10 in operation on this day who would ever of thought that would happen. I have seen some video of the gala as well as on Railcams live cams there.

Wonder how many of those logs will finish up in my fires! Usually from Estonia & such like. Wonderful to see a loco from the Superior Railway, many happy holidays pulled by one of them, sad to see one in the sidings shunting at a Kent station in about 1962/3.

The logs go to a factory in Wales that makes chipboard MDF particleboard, those locos are nice. I prefer the rebuilt ones. I can just remember one not long before the end of steam when we lived in London a few years. Sad indeed to see one only doing a bit of shunting.

@@cedarcam Made an assumption re the logs! Down my way we don’t see goods/freight trains, just an occasional fuel oil train for the LongRock depot. Yes, the rebuilt locos do look so good especially with the insignia on the tender.

@@Mounhas I only know because a regular at Carlisle told me. I thought they may be used to make solid wood things rather than shredded. Carlisle has quite a variety of freight through so most times I go I see something interesting. I really like the British Railways lion in crown too
