@@rufflux At the time of the Haitian revolution it was still popular amongst colonists and viewed as normal. Of course the Haitians viewed as wrong because they were the enslaved.. their hate towards the French went so far to then proceed to kill thousands on mass of white and mixed raced people in Haiti. Slavery was popular back then, we know it was wrong now but back then it was seen as a normal and legitimate way to make money, Napoleon shifted his focus from colonisation to simple slave trading and using profits to fund campaigns in Europe and North Africa. This was viewed as normal by his contemporaries and was only unpopular amongst a minority grouping.
