One Lap: S1000XR vs S1000RR

I get passed by a talented rider who is using that S1000RR as intended. I am only able to slightly close the gap on the braking zones. I think the video highlights the difference in capabilities between both machines.

Awesome riding Cuban, that guy on the RR could ride too so you did great staying in there. I think BMW should give Cuban an M1000XR for all the sales he has generated 🤩.

Yeah bro. Every time I watch him ride I want to get one of those to replace both my touring bike and my Street Triple track bike. It may not happen for a couple more seasons since I have a bit more room for growth on my STR before I upgrade, but I'll be in the market for a S1000XR when that time comes.

@@dv6902 I just got the Street Triple Moto2 and still waiting on the MG V100 but the XR looks insane with that RR engine. The R and RR did not do much for me for some reason.

Fantastic riding. Did you make the same changes to this XR as to the previous one? Seems to me like you lost out most in top sped on the long straight, and kept up well for the rest. I got the 19 triple black, so i probably can get the MXR without the wife nothicing! (i tell her i put some stickers on the rims)

Definitely be keeping up in the straights with M. 197whp on XR does make it alive. Tough pick in R or XR next. Head change on Gen1 fits budget easier.

Question CR: Is there anything you have to worry about more being on the XR since its has a higher center of balance than people on regular sports?

Usually the main concern is footpegs dragging, but with the HP rearsets on highest setting it's not a concern. Braking hard at an angle, the rear end can get real lively, move around a ton, that affects my lines a little. If you add more power, wheelies become an issue. Of course changes of direction are slower and I don't push the lean angle too much considering the weight and long suspension. The bike is otherwise quite solid stock, better brake pads and fluid and it's a really competent machine on track.

The XR weighs under 500 lbs. What lightweight touring bikes are you comparing it to... esp ones with over 160 HP?

@@Pyrrho_ This, the XR is basically the same weight as a bloody tuono, especially after De-cat and a lithium battery and a few other bits...

I have a full system, lithium battery, forged wheels and carbon bits Tuono and it's 425 lb when the reserve fuel light is on. That lands it 450 lbs fueled with 16 L of fuel. So yeah, same weight if it's plus or minus 40 lbs

@Kurt Laurent thats nice and all but my XR weighed wet 215 kg (474 lbs) with just the mods i explained and with a fair few protection bits added, im sure you can get a tuono much lower, especially a factory, but the base model Tuono is 209kg wet (460 lbs) not much in it.

Run what you brung. These are not races, so many street bikes work fine with some preparation. I like to highlight the capabilities of a bike not normally found running at this pace.
