'One last glimpse': Lakeside Mall to close July 1, fixture sale to follow

On July 1, Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights will be closed for good. It will eventually be torn down. Many people have been coming to see the the mall while it’s still standing.

Breaks my heart 💔. This was a big part of my childhood in the 80s and an even bigger one from the early/ mid 90s for my high school years. Still supported the place many years after. I suppose this is what happens when people can’t actually can’t get away from their computers to get up and walk then shop. Damn, what a shame! RIP ☮️

I would go there even if I didn't have a lot of money just to people watch and try things on I dont understand people now shopping was fun not sitting on my ass order stuff on line they miss out on life and experiences guess iam to old fashion

Ok, they tried this stunt in Bloomfield Twp back in 2008, and the developers went bankrupt. Also, if the local economy can't support a mall, how's it going to support this??

Clearly you're not from the area. 2 Miles down the road is a successful and thriving mall, Partridge Creek, which just so happens to have opened in 2007. The problem was it couldn't support two malls, and when this town center opens it will have housing, which means it won't just be a destination, but it'll be a place where people reside and therefore are constantly providing cash flow to the businesses they live above.

They are doing things like this everywhere. They did the same thing here in Nashville. It was a mall called Bellevue. They torn the mall down and did the same thing they are doing to Lakeside Mall. And they are also doing it at Northland Mall in Detroit!

@@lil_lyrix partridge creek sucks. i was only there like 1 or 2 times like 10 years ago. the only cool thing there is the movie theater. and even then they rarely make good movies now days anyways.

Much nicer process and plan overall than what Spring Hill mall in West Dundee and Stratford Square mall in Bloomingdale, Il are experiencing. Good luck to all!

yea for real such a waste of resources to tear it down. its just further proof nobody is doing anything about the pollution problem. if they turned all thoes old stores into bars and weed bars and night clubs that place would be packed.

o man i remember when i was a kid id play on the bacon an eggs breakfast playset thing they had. that would be cool to get and set it up in a park or something and have parents pay 1 dollar per kid to play on it.

So sad. My hubby and I go here often as 1 of the 3 malls we have/had the luxury of being able to walk around in and enjoy looking at everything in those long winter months in Michigan. 😢🤟🫶
