My word is SOMETHING. Sounds crazy I know. I suffer from chronic illness and it’s very easy to do nothing all day. I am striving to do SOMETHING worthy every day. I also recently lost my dad. We were very close. I need to do SOMETHING every day to remember him but heal in the loss. I am really looking forward to turning my little word into inspiration to change and grow. I still think you’re amazing and I just appreciate you and your sharing of your life and growth more than I can put into words. You help me more than you will ever know. God bless and prayers that you “connect” in 2019.

I always wondered why I have been watching you for so long. I found your channel a few months after you "migrated" all of your content for Pretty Neat Living and was just a 22 years old brazilian girl, finishing college, single and not interested in a neat living at all. I am still single and messy but somehow i always find myself listening to you talk about your life and beliefs for 5~6 years now (?) for 45 minutes straight haha. What you do brings me joy and it has always been amazing to follow your journey, especially this year where it is transparent how much more you have been loving yourself and your life. The question of "why do i watch this woman who has absolutely nothing to do with me?" was finally answered today when I saw the results of your personality test. I am also a INFJ-T (95% introspective) and can see now why I clearly resonate so well with your energy. Its not because we are in different stages of our lives that we can't be similar, and while listening to you in this video today I realized how much of what you have been saying to me in all these years have somewhat helped me mold my perspective into a vision that makes me happy more than just bringing me acomplishments. Thank you for not letting people judgements prevent you to being who you trully are. Have a wonderfull year, Jen.

Beautiful video! This is another example of how thoughtful and thorough you are in the content you present. I have been a longtime viewer and I can honestly say that I never come away from a video wishing that you including something, or that I didn’t understand the message you were trying to convey. You remember all of the details, anticipate and answer questions viewers may have, and present everything in a beautiful manner. Your videos may be long and “chatty”, as you say, but every moment is worth it. I cannot say that about a lot of KZfaq creators. 💕

My word for the year is "Begin"! I actually chose this word back in the fall of 2018. There are a lot of events this year that signal a lot of 'beginnings' - specifically, I'm graduating from grad school and I'm getting married! So the word "Begin" seems fitting on a large scale, but it can also inspire me on a smaller scale - begin new projects, goals, journeys, etc. Not sure if I'm going to buy the specific album but I love the idea of choosing a single word to guide you through the year!

Jen, thank you so much for sharing this, it’s truly lovely. I love that you included a picture of Winnie. I would love to hear your story about Winnie if you don’t mind sharing. I love all stories about fur babies. I think my word is going to be create this year. I want to create the friendships I crave, the welcoming home that they want to spend time ( I already love my home, it’s my favorite place to be.... that’s the problem). I want to create & craft more, it’s my biggest passion but it’s the first thing I let go. I want to create the body that I’m proud of and the health to feel my best. I want to create a self worth that won’t allow me to worry about what others think, and so much more.

I have watched your video and paused so many times to create my cart for the word project ...almost deleting the cart since the project is sold out of some items ... but I kept going back to review my selection... I chose a word and went back to finish your video- I can’t believe it - my word is connect !!!!! For so many reasons - very different from yours, at 51, my life has changed... been redefined and I need to reconnect to ME and everything around me!!! I decided reconnecting would not be as authentic as connecting-anew- redefining my life ; thank you for sharing the project !

Thank you for sharing this and reminding me (and I am sure, many) that it’s okay to take the time for self-care like this. (Not just okay but quite important.) As a fellow memory-keeper I love the crafty nature of what you do with it. I have often considered doing OLW but I’ve never been able to narrow down a single word for myself. Funny thing is, as I was watching this, it dawned on me that I should use the word “reach” this year. Similar to your word, I need to reach out (connect) with people more often, but additionally, I was to literally reach (stretch/exercise) more regularly and figuratively reach and expand myself with different or new projects that have previously intimidated me. Like OLW!! LOL. Anyway, thank you for sharing your ideas and being such awesome inspiration!

My word this year as will be next year is BELIEVE simply because it has been an important word in this rough year and also for next year- I feel like my journey with the word is not over.

I highly recommend it. I just convinced my daughter (28) to do it as well. You don't need to buy the kit, just the classes ($26.00). You just have to set a time once or twice a month to do it. Don't look at it as a chore, but as an experience. I've decided that next year, I will dedicate 1 hour a week to my OLW project. I got behind last year for whatever reason. I'm back on track.

I watched your video last year and was inspired to do the project this year. I chose the word “ explore” to work on moving past some post-partum anxiety that was really interfering with life. I started small, packing up my littles for short hikes in the city. And then, in July my husband was offered a job out of state. And this anxious homebody left her home state and family to move across the country and it’s been amazing. One little word. Well, and a lot of prayers :)

Hi Jen - this resonated with me because all kinds of journaling has recently become an important part of my life. It truly can be a meditative practice. Not sure why but my recent journaling practice has led me to curiosity for learning things such as the countries in our world right now (195) and geography and etc. etc. etc. so I guess my word might be ‘explore’. Anyway - love your content and thank you!

I have a question for others who have completed the One Little Word Project. I started the project last January, then life happened in July. I became so overwhelmed at work, that I just didn't have a moment to finish the rest of the year. I have a job as a full time teacher, I care for my disabled sister on the weekends and I'm just tired......Should I try to continue with the August prompt or should I just start all over with a new word (which I have decided will be "TIME"). At this point the word "TIME" means so much to me. Would love to know the advice of others.

I have not done this project but would advise you to call 2018 finished and start fresh with a brand new month and a brand new word otherwise it has become just another unfinished chore to burden yourself with and then don't feel guilty if you get bogged down with other things again and have to put it aside. This is supposed to feed your soul, not kick you in the shins.

I think you have to first remember that there is no right or wrong answer to this question. Doing what feels the best for you is what you should do. If you want to move on and start 2019 with a new word, do that. If you feel like you will not be able to move in without finishing up 2018, do that. If you feel like you could possibly do both, maybe give that a go. This is supposed to be uplifting and motivating.... whatever you decide. Be gentle with yourself.

@@kwm537 Thanks for your input. You are so correct, it's suppose to be uplifting and it has been. So, with that in consideration, I figured, it's still December, so I finish December. I found some inspirational photos from July and August and will put those in my One Little Word Journal. I went ahead and ordered my 2019 OLW kit, excited!!! Thanks again for your input.

@WholeSchooling Mama I decided to finish this year with December, since it is still 2018. I have a lot of wonderful things to add to the prompt, so I'll just end it with December and photos from July - Nov. I have beautiful photos from 2 trips to Utah with some thoughts to add. I'll be finished before Jan. 1 (fingers crossed). The new kit is on the way. Thanks for your input.

Jen- I’m a long Time follower and not much on commenting but this video was meant for me. That being said, Thank you for this video!! I have followed your journey and you have grown so much over the past few years. When you read the November Letter to yourself, I cried. Tears of happiness!! I have been struggling with depression and this year has been tough. Thank you for sharing this as I believe doing this style prompts will help me and I’m excited for a new healthier 2019. Many Blessings, Kim

Hello Jen I am a mother of two. I have PTSD. I love Alie Edwards but I can never afford. I have multiple questions for you. Can I just use any albums or sketch books to start my little word? and since I cant afford the classes is there any chance for you to do at least the start of the project? Thank you for being such a gems.

Do you feel that the workshop is worth it ? I find the concept interesting but I’m not sure about the workshop, the website doesn’t give many details about the content :/
